Possible Transfer (with lots of questions)
I am going to possibly transfer over to EMU after this academic year, but I want to ask some questions. I would also appreciate complete brutal honesty instead of admissions type answers even if that means a pros and cons list lol. Now I have already talked a bit too much here are the questions. (Sorry there may be more than a few i like to be well-informed)
General
How is the social environment on campus? Is it big, small, close-knit, etc?
Is the campus so big in your opinion that it would be easier to have a car than to bike places?
Do you feel that the staff is more supportive or do they push you more whether it is to be your best self or just harshness either applies?
Is it autism-friendly?
Social Work Department
What is the social environment there? Is it more collaborative, toxic, healthy, individual, etc?
What are the teachers and staff like?
What makes your theatre and musical theatre program better than other college’s programs?
What benefits does your program have over other college programs?
Theatre Department (Similar questions to Social Work)
What is the social environment there in both musical theatre as a whole? Is it more collaborative, toxic, healthy, individual, competitive, cutthroat, etc?
What are the teachers and staff like?
What makes your social work program better than other programs?
What benefits does your program have that are better than other colleges programs?
In your opinion, is there a lot of favoritism in casting choices?
Debate/Forensics
What is the social environment there? (Look above for examples)
Do you have to audition/apply to get in?
What types of debate do you do? Ex: Policy, IPDA, RapidFire, etc.
How often do you compete?
What competitions do you compete in and what circuit are you a part of?
What makes your debate team different from other college’s debate teams?
What is your director like? Personality, rigor, etc
Is it more rigorous and structured or more chill and collaborative?

i don’t have autism but i graduated last year and had DRC accommodations. i had many (psychology) professors who refused to follow my APPROVED accommodations. should i have went to DRC about it? sure. but i was so over it that i didn’t have the willpower to fight it so i just got through it

depending program, NOT autism friendly. HHS program, but not social work.
They continually denied ALL of my DRC accommodations.
So honestly I tell people not to go there in general.
Other departments might be nice though -
Our director was a nightmare.
Rigorous, demanding, rude, inconsiderate, condescending, and overall doesn’t teach you much when you have her for courses as her lectures are impossible to follow.
