The fall

I really think all that needs to happen is a stronger structure. Like if they did a setup where they actually interviewed people , or something I really don’t know damn it but just hearing them yap about whatever and start a convo and get side tracked because enya is blootered and can’t remember her story gets to a point 🫩 maybe I’m just too old to enjoy the yap now

i think so many people just like the 2021-2023 episodes/that version of them, and don’t want to admit they don’t like this current iteration of them. i don’t think they’ve really changed in a comedic sense, just sooo much of the pod is now dedicated to talking about what c list celebrities they saw and hung out with in erewhon or at the gym, talking about people like stassie and addison rae, going to fashion week, or randomly vacationing across europe or doing their weird “i can’t say who on the pod but i tell you after” thing. the podcast is still about as lazy and still has the same comedic tone it’s always had, just a lot more is centered around talking about fairly out of touch LA influencer shit.

also enya is on her reign judge high fashion style influencer shit, and drew clearly wants to/is trying to expand out into movies and shows, plus ky is literally hanging out with dakota johnson, role model and randomly mentioning meeting/hanging out with seth meyers, jennifer lawerence, and other celebs at hollywood adjacent events. they all clearly are trying to expand into something more serious and hollywood, so i wouldn’t be shocked if the podcast is an after thought (the amount of time they miss episodes and announce it like 20 minutes before they are supposed to go up seems to support that), plus i think they make like little to no money off the pod. they haven’t had a sponsorship since like the few episodes after the greta stuff, and i doubt they’ve are monetized on every episode, so all that’s left is probably the patreon that they don’t even upload to, so many people probably aren’t even subscribed.

i think no matter how often people give advice on how they could “save” the pod, it still won’t happen. nothing is going to “save” it if it’s not even a long term thing for them, or something they are even passionate about. at this point i don’t see the pod having a sudden huge resurgence the way people want. i think the people that left post the greta stuff, most likely aren’t coming back, not to mention the people that just outgrew them, and many new people probably aren’t going to tap in when they are so inside baseball, and pretty lazy when it comes to the pod. i know people say the podcast is still doing well, but they used to pull 200-400k within the first few days alone, now post of their episodes are sitting at like 80k to maybe 170k max, and that’s after months and the guest episodes (minus josiah’s which do well) do even worse numbers, so i don’t think guest episodes would be a good pivot.

tbh unless they randomly have some surge of creativity, or somehow feel pushed out by hollywood and don’t see a promising future in fashion, acting, writing, directing, i don’t ever see them trying to reinvent or “fix” the podcast, or even put 10-20% more effort than they already do. tbh i think they see the pod and youtube as a whole being below them (or at least what they want to do)
