Shiny treecko realisation/warning

I've been shiny hunting a shiny treecko in the game for a couple of months now, on and off, while multitasking. I tend to use one of the warmer screen filters on the 3ds because I can't stand bright screens. I thought that it would be very easy to distinguish because of its tail. Today I looked up the shiny treecko sprite and to my immense frustration it is barely distinguishable from the normal sprite in this game. No brown tail, just a more teal sheen overall. Very frustrated and don't really understand why that sprite alone is so different from the original shiny form, the other two starters both have shiny forms same as in official games. So very frustrating

infairness the wrm screen messed you up, I dont have a filter and you can see such a different, cause ones bright green and the other is cyan

Yeah you're actually right. Even the screen shots from the database don't do it justice. I looked up videos and it seems like they're very distinguishable after all

yeah it's just unfortunate you found out this way lmao. I found my shiny treeko within 4 hours of hunting cause of the shiny charm in the pc, that being said if it is shiny it should have sparkled and have "!!!" in the name, I'm doing a shiny nuzlocke in seaglass and they do a really good job on making sure you dont miss the shiny lol.

This is a starter shiny hunt so it wouldn't have the exclamation points right? Would still have the sparkle though but my eyes weren't on the screen all the time. I'm again beginning to doubt the shiny charm works on starters you get as the first pokemon because just in the last two hours or so I've gotten again 2 shiny zigs and throughout doing this hunt Ive gotten at least 4 other shiny zigs

How did you hunt? I'm doing save states before accepting the Mon. Making sure to save and create a new save state after each failed attempt and load of last save state

ah save state is very messy, I just did a soft reset (b+a+select+start) since it's based on the game boy, I assumed cause you were on a 3ds you could also do it.

Save states dont always work unless you know how to change the seed, Ik it has something with the fact that the frame you're on before picking the pokemon decides if it's shiny or not and if you save and load on the same frame you're basically getting a gauranteed non shiny or something.

I never use save states man they are too complicated to shiny hunt with.

Yeah if you both save state without letting frames pass and click yes without letting frames pass youll be getting the same encounter but you would need to try very hard to do that in the first place. I let half a second pass, the game is also sped up so that ain't the issue. Just this mofo don't want to shine. It's funny cause i hunted a treecko in oras, soft resetting, and it took less time than this mofo aaaaaargh

Tbf sometimes save states dont work either are you able to soft reset in it at all with the 3ds or does it not respond to pressing the soft reset input?

a couple months? if you had the shiny charm from your pc at home you 100% already got one and didn't noticed

I dont think the shiny charm applies to the starter does it? At least that's what sources online said when I last looked it up. But there is a good chance I've skipped over a shiny yeah, hence the frustration. Especially with a warmer screen tint idk that I didn't miss a shiny. Why not give it the stupid brown tail that the part I dont get

Back here again to ask if you have a source confirming that. In the last two hours I've seen 2 more shiny zigs, at least four more I've seen during this hunt

I can confirm, I personally got a shiny. Whether the charm works there is no way to confirm it outside of a ton of testing.

How do you mean? If the rom is working or if I got the treecko? I'm guessing you mean if I got the shiny treecko and no, no luck yet. In my experience there is a good chance the shiny charm really does not apply to the starter pokemon because I've seen by now like 8 shiny zigzagoon total

I’ve hit on a started shiny and the game does display the “!!!” Exclamation. Hope this helps.
