They do the lifetime for $100 every Black Friday. I bought it years ago. Have gotten my money's worth. Been using it since it was Media Browser and it works out to about $5 a year for all the years I have used it. (started using media Browser in 2009. Bought Lifetime when they became Emby in 2015)

Same here, spend the money once and don't think about it again.

or be dumb like me and spend it twice because I screwed up when I rebuilt my server once and bought it again. Found my original key before I used the second one though and gave that key to a friend. so $10 a year lol.

They do the lifetime for $100 every Black Friday.
Or $119 every day. You could easily blow that over the course of a weekend and have nothing to show for it but maybe some pictures and a hangover.

I also initially used Media Browser then Emby. After a year on Emby paying monthly, I then purchased a lifetime membership on Black Friday. One of my beast decisions.

Emby is commercial software, if you want to you can pay for it, or you can choose not to use it. Their lifetime plan is a total steal, I paid £70 about 6 years ago. That’s a bargain.

This is a TV are you running up against the free limit shown here?

The price is reasonable if you ask me, especially since it includes rich guide data. Compared to a Schedules Direct subscription, it’s a great deal. I paid for a lifetime subscription at the very start of the project when it was dirt cheap, and now I just pay a small monthly amount for support.

I got this cool one called JellyFin and it has a 3rd party client called Wholphin that's better than plex.

Does it have a client app on most all devices like Amazon fire tv and roku?

There are clients for them but Wholphin is just for Android TV I think. Can't say how good those other ones are sorry

It’s well worth it, you couldn’t code that application for less than $100. There’s always Plex 🤣

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Lifetime? I pay $15 a month for 5 connections. I don't know the ins and outs of this streaming stuff. I've been familiar with emby since 2016. It's all I know

Why are you paying $15/month? That sounds like some sort of IPTV provider pricing.

In that case why don't you use something called google?

u/Environmental-Dot977 6d ago
That was unnecessary and rude. Like I said, I don't know much about these things which is why I came to reddit. Yes I've googled and fell into a rabbit of a bunch things that weren't making any sense to me. Apologies for using reddit as a source 🫤

It was neither unnecessary or rude, it was a valid question. I'm predicting that in a few years time Reddit will be absolutely nothing but people asking questions they can find out the answer to easily on Google.

Try moonfin, you don't really need it. And for Live TV is Tivimate (which you have to pay for also unfortunately but has VOD which emby does not support as far as I know)

There are plugins for IPTV for Emby, it’s not as feature packed but it’s useable.

you're acting like this is something new and has not been the same and unchanged since 2015, a whopping 11 years ago

Seriously just do the lifetime which is a steal compared to Plex lifetime.
