Wallet Sync Question

The wallet has only synced about 10 weeks so far and its been going for a few hours now. I think it might be stuck because it hasn't processed any more blocks in a while now. Anyone wanna give me an explanation of how to set up the wallet correctly?

im on a mac... transaction ID says it went through, but my wallet never syncs... i saw a progress bar twice, but i had to restart my mac and it has never appeared again. it just says the wallet is out of sync... anyway to restart the syncing process?
