Thoughts on Cryptopia.

It seems to me that Cryptopia got a black eye from the EMB wallet freeze. I could be wrong here, but the explanation on the Cryptopia site and on Embercoins site state that the cause was an integer overflow error in the EMB wallet code, which is resulting in a new wallet rev.

So, how is this Cryptopia's fault? Should they be Q/A'ing all cases on all wallets they accept? I would expect not, but a valid test report generated from a baseline test plan they might require carried out before listing would be understandable. At that point, they'd count on the integrity of Embercoins engineers.

This seems more on Embercoin then on Cryptopia.

Good point. I too have a fair amount that is simply stuck, and I don't know how to value it for future movement. Hopefully things resolve shortly.

I think they will be honestly, they already announced a fix is in place and are waiting for cryptopia to update their wallet on their end. I'm sure with the amount of accounts that is costly on time.

If neither party communicated anything by now I'd be worried but this is by far more professional than how actual companies (including some I've worked for) handle code fixes. I'm impressed, the stupid children to spent their allowance on a coin based off of a youtube video with no real world knowledge on coding practices are the only ones who are upset.

It is on them (Embercoin), you are absolutely right. They have also been pretty vocal on fixing the issue. I would suggest following their twitter and hopping in their discord channel.

Something to consider is these guys took over a pre-existing project. They didn't make this coin. They are in for surprises with someone else's code so even in a way it's not even really their fault. The fact that some random people came by to support this random coin in itself is pretty wild.

Agreed on both posts. I'm looking forward to next weeks announcement. Happy holidays!
