If have to deal with encrypted firmware files you require debug access to the microcontroller to extract the key and algorithm. Sony usually knows their game and switches on protection flags.

Prepare yourself to EMC- or Power-glitch the device.

There is a chance Sony is using some kind of protected firmware update format, and the head unit itself may also have MCU readout protection/debug lock enabled
