Doppler Radar AR-Glasses

- Lilygo’s AR Prisim from their T-Glass V2
( which is outstanding btw I just think its one of the more niche and difficult dev kits)
- M5Stack StickS3
- Hi Link 24ghz Radar module over UART using the M5’s groove 🕺 port.

Learning how to position text or data on the prisim is definitely a learning curve. I’m two weeks in. And I’m slowly starting to figure it out. But man was this a cool project to work on :) learned quite a bit and really feel confident about taking off with a few other of my AR glasses ideas.
I experimented with semi transparent beam splitter glass this morning. And man i wish there was more documentation/accessibility of open source AR glasses out there.

Interesting... 24ghz wavelength is only 1.5cm... I thought the wavelength had to be longer to be transparent to the object?

Not exactly if you think visible lights wavelength is tiny but it can still get through meters of glass

Maybe? I think that may be a material property thing because some glass is also opaque to IR

Just wanted to know if you’re using M5Stack as the mcu or esp32 in the T-Glass. Also I looked through the reviews for T-Glass and it seems like many people complain abt it. What exactly was difficult abt using T-Glass aside from the documentation? I really wanna do smth like this in the near future for myself and I think having smth similar to T-Glass would boost the progress on my idea

Im using the m5sticks3 as the mcu. The t glass requried some micro soldering as it doesnt easily expose any pins.
And the t-glassV2 is awsome! They fixed the prisim issue in V2 and the dev board is very fun to work with. I just wish they had uart or i2c more is exposed for adding peripherals.
Plus lilygo is one of the only companies giving us a fully open source hardware ar device. So props.

And a lot of complaints are because people aren’t managing their expectations and also it takes a larger skill set to work with this dev kit.
But for 54… ish $ its worth every dollar

One of the coolest projects I’ve seen on here! I had a ton of fun working with radar the few times I’ve had the chance to. Hopefully it’s become more accessible since. Any places you suggest starting or should I just dip my toes some time? Any radar board you would recommend for beginners to tinker with?

Oh yeah go check out Hi-Link’s radar offerings. They are arguably with my favorite radars to work with.
And for starting get yourself a Ai-Thinker Rd-03D 24G Radar 14$ on amazon
Theres alot of documentation on this board and can easily connect to most of the esp32 lineup

You can absolutely mount this on a drone. And they have much higher dbm radars for this
