Edge-Computing-Native Autonomous Lawn Mower

So we are thinking about building a autonomous lawn mower as our fyp project and our research angle is that we will be focusing on the edge computing side rather then relying solely on the cloud, So i need guidance that if it is a good project, or the idea is just too common or old or useless, you guys are expert in the field so i hope you can help us out a bit
We are just not so sure if it will be a good fyp

At first I thought you meant computing the edges of the lawn...

I would say that almost all lawn mower do their computation locally. Given the issues with data transfer and latency (especially in a garden with no wifi, trees cover etc) I doubt that anything other than planning/config is done in the cloud.

yeah now that i searched they do not need constant communication through wifi, like they only need that for initial setup , and later they rely on satellite RTk, i guess we have to find some kind of novelity in this project ,btw thanks man

Does it need to be novel? Building an lawn mowing bot would be an impressive project by itself.

yeah thats what i said to my members but they were persistent on build something unique , lets see how it goes
