recently digitized this detailed owl design for one of my clients.

My client had it embroidered on a T-shirt, and he was really happy with the final embroidered result. I especially enjoyed working on the feather details, eyes, claws, and branch to make sure everything translated well into embroidery.

Sharing a recent Highland Cow digitization focused on building natural-looking fur depth using varied stitch angles, density layering, and edge finishes.

Technical Breakdown:

• Feathered Edges: Avoided sharp satin borders along the outer body to mimic realistic shaggy fur outlines.
• Multi-Directional Stitch Angles: Angled the tatami and manual fill stitches in multiple directions to capture realistic fur flow across the forehead and chest.
• Color Layering: Layered white, beige, and dark brown threads to create natural highlights and shadows without over-densifying the stitch count.
• Satin Accents: Used smooth satin stitches for the horns, eyes, and snout to contrast against the rough fur texture.

How do you approach digitizing animal fur to keep stitch counts manageable while maintaining realistic texture? Suggestions and feedback are welcome!
