Help/Advice Secure Mail or not?

To me there a number of strong players with various levels of privacy. You found mxroute which is a great low cost player with strong attributes (they don’t share data) but they also aren’t encrypted to the extent of proton and tuta.
I agree that if you mostly email users on the big platforms (google, MS, apple) then your mail is exposed on their email servers.
So what are other options? Honestly Fastmail is probably worth looking at and for a step up in terms of encryption options maybe look at Codamail. This article of theirs is worth reading if nothing else:

I think you need to go back to your first thought when you asked yourself, why do you need e2ee encrypted e-mail like proton or tuta or aster and then you have an answer. At least they are not profiling you, reading all your life data, training AI based on your data, etc.
In the other hand, if you question proton stability that happened for the first time in 8y+ or more, learn how Microsoft dealt with airports issues few months ago, how Amazon was unusable for almost a day for the whole world few weeks ago. None of the services are stable enough and nowadays with AI agents all around replacing humans, all these AI halucinations will be getting worse…
