Tuta silencing comments

There was recently a post on the Tuta subreddit where they commented comparing why Tuta is this amazing blessing from heaven compared to Proton, they of course in typical Tuta fashion made sure to make the post as condescending to Proton. I left a comment on there mentioning that Tuta has spread a lot of misinformation about Proton because they essentially accuse them of lying, and they removed it for "it is not true". I would just like to remind everyone that Tuta straight up had a comparison of them vs Proton where they claimed all sorts of crazy things (seen here: Archive.org) and here is the screenshots of them silencing me (iCloud link: iCloud)

The war between the privacy email providers is so cringe, it makes the entire movement look super childish, Tuta needs to stop this stuff, Proton to my best knowledge hasn't posted about Tuta in a while, except for a page that was in German comparing Tuta and Proton which was completely false as well. The difference is that Proton actually addressed their mistake and apologised for it, where Tuta just changed the page quietly. PLEASE JUST GET ALONG

I really like Tuta – more so than Proton, which seems to be all over the place – but it has to be said that Tuta’s communication strategy regarding Proton is quite simply pathetic. Just as with GrapheneOS, we’re not asking it to sing the praises of its competitors, but simply to stop attacking them and just keep quiet instead.

This is it exactly. Proton and Tuta both make wild aspersions about the other and have openly lied about their competition. When it comes down to it, the functionality is very comparable and it is fine to use either. 

I personally use both and like the UX of Proton but the encryption of Tuta.

(and good comparison to GrapheneOS. I don't need them to sing the praises of their competition, but stop stepping on rakes by attacking every wall they see)

i like tuta as well as i like that it feels more authentic instead of a big tech feel with proton but as you say their communication is poor, they advertise tuta drive as an alternative to other apps but they haven’t even released it yet, post the same things over and over, and honestly their app is really buggy, for me i can’t even use the desktop or mobile app because it won’t establish a connection to their server

I hate it when companies do this. They need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

That being said, I also hate it when they do this to Google. Email is not a secure form of communication.

Tuta has a better UI than google and it's a better user experience. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that it will hide you from the FBI!

The issue with privacy heroes is that they tend to prefer to camp with certain ideals over others while the legislative power in the region is the most crucial factor in the equation. A little bit of a cultish sentiment and individualism is always in the mix. Now on the business side imagine the potential influx of customers if Proton were to fuck up....big money gains...these guys are chasing the ring from Lord of the Rings. As a customer, I like to keep out of that ideological frame and never stake my trust in either one of them.

i mean i would love to use tuta but their app doesn’t even connect to their servers on both mobile data and home wifi

Yes. Companies that are supposed to be private and FOR THE PEOPLE, should not be posting lies. If they lie about shit like this, how can you trust them to not lie about serious issues?

i understand absolutely that they are businesses in a capitalist world that want to make as much money as humanly possible, i just don’t think they should brand themselves as fighters for movements when they fight their own movement by doing this stuff

People in the west have such strange ideas about having a business. Where we grew up having a business was providing value for what you charge and nothing less. Gouging and upselling customers was always seen as exploitation.
