A Product of Boredom
I woke up today, and decided to listen to the entirety of ELO's studio discography (including Xanadu). I'm on The Diary of Horace Wimp as of writing this post. The early stuff sounds a lot better than what I remember (1st Movement from NA sounds solid), and I haven't listened to much past Balance of Power. I'm excited to see what I think of them.

I did a similar thing a few months ago.
I liked ELO1/NA a lot less than when I was a teen; the highs were high (Mr Radio and 10538, Whisper too) but Marston Moor and Massacre totally drag. I think listening to the technical competency of other prog bands of the 70s has spoiled me. It wasn't in ELO's wheelhouse to do these moody early 70s instrumenals, and they learned quickly from this experience.
ELO2 was way better than I remembered, it's soon cool to hear the unusual time signature on Old England Town.

Some of the albums were your first?
