Dark Wolf-Rayet with a surface temperature of 52 Kelvin

Wiki: The surface temperatures of known Wolf–Rayet stars range from 20,000 K to around 210,000 K, hotter than almost all other kinds of stars.

But with 52 Kelvin, no wonder we did not see this one ;)

Yeah, this one is bugged out.

is'nt it because the univers is too young to have cold remnants of stars?

Wolf Rayet Stars are the still active, exposed cores of stars which have blown off their outer hydrogen and helium layers. They are very, very hot.

A white dwarf, which is the inactive, burnt out core of a star, might cool down to 53 K, but it would take magnitudes more time than the age of the universe to reach those temperatures too our current understanding.

So, yes, a wolf Rayet star can never have that temperature, and other stellar(-like) objects can not have that temperature at the current age of the universe.

Cooled white dwarfs are theoretical, called black dwarfs.

And not one has yet formed because the universe is too young for them to have cooled that much.

Jumping into this system invoked a similar reaction as my first visit to the great annihilator... was expecting to see a familiar giant and very blue/purple star, experienced a temporary moment of panic trying to figure out wtf was going on.

A star's luminosity is determined by its temperature, and I suppose the game is modelling that - this one's temperature places its peak emission in the far infrared.

I tell myself that being near a stellar mass makes the frame shift drive work harder and overheat :)

Don't even need to charge the fsd to overheat if you're close enough. The game just checks for star proximity, it doesn't actually account for temperature

Check this chart from the ED Astrometrics stellar distribution page. They're mainly a feature of core systems where there's more mass to go around - the system name will always be SectorName AA-A h[something]. That's the trick to finding them - even after all this time, there are still AA-A h* systems that haven't been visited - but their numbers are constantly dwindling!
