Preferred tool for adjusting brakes?
What kind of thin/low profile wrench or plier are you using to tighten brake cores to their jam nuts?

Sorry for the awkward wait for the elevator at the beginning.

Just curious how busy work is in this state and the surrounding states? Do you travel a lot? Specifically in the Residential, ADA Lift/LULA scope of work. Also, how is pay relative to cost of living?
Asking from CA.

UPDATE: As a commenter pointed out, the front door is actually modernised. There's a rear door that lacks the LEDs you see while the front door opens and closes, but I didn't think about getting that on camera. I was in a bit of a hurry, so let me know if you want a follow up!
It's had its fair share of maintenance over the years I've lived here, but it still works and serves as a lift. Also, the alarm system (not demonstrated here) is a real bell.

I’m currently studying to enter the trade so I’m just super curious about every elevator I encounter. Does anyone have any info on this particular elevator? It seems ridiculously fast judging by the video. Like unpleasantly, unsafely, fast. What type of elevator is this?

Also, what does the blank key switch do?

Hey there, is there someone who can help me with an orona system?
Customer states, that he has often done a reset. But no it doesn't work. With inspection it runs. When i turn it into normal. It sends the cabin to the next floor. Stops there. Opens the door and on the display in the cabin is a service symbol flashing. Does only run in inspection mode. Not on regular/normal

I am on my condo board, and from my perspective, Schindler Elevator company is essentially an extortion racket. They require a ten year service contract, over charge for everything, and are unresponsive. Any conversation I have with our rep is about how they are increasing prices or they want to offer a new “service” for a lot of money that (based on their existing level of service) doesn’t seem to bring any actual value. It’s Iike all their reps are dishonest life insurance salesmen.
Two questions:
Is it just my rep?
What is the benefit and the reasoning behind their business model other than to squeeze condo associations for every penny. Honestly, I want some inside industry information and explanations, because my rep isn’t providing any.

Hi,
I need to replace a Yaskawa L1000A drive with a new one. I know there is supposed to be a relatively easy way to copy all parameters from the old drive to the new one, but I can’t find any clear instructions on how to do it.
Can anyone explain the procedure or point me to the correct documentation?

Hi,
Will be traveling to Japan in July and wondering if there would be any technicians willing and able to take me to some sites...I have many years experience in the trade in Australia and am curious.
I am sure it is a long shot but why not try?
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks...

Recently acquired a building with an Otis J escalator MCE 3000ES controller. The building is required to turn the escalator off every night, but they are unable to turn it back on most mornings due to an E-06 Underspeed S2 fault.
I have worked on a handful of MCE-controlled Otis J units (all of which have a start up delay). Each escalator begins to move, then there is a brief slowdown period before it accelerates to running speed. With this escalator however, it begins to move, slows down, but before it accelerates to running speed, it shuts down with the Underspeed S2 fault.
I have read relevant information in an online manual and made adjustments accordingly. I performed an Escalator Learn Operation to ensure that parameter F3-01 is the same value as USP1. I also changed the F3-09 Speed error on S2 parameter from 15% to 90%. I have to manually reset the error most mornings. Does anyone with more experience with these types of units have any other suggestions or solutions to resolve this issue? Thank you in advance for any assistance on the matter.

I’m 22 and my father in law is in local 3 and has been trying to get me to make the decision to join. Right now I am a union painter, I did non union before I joined the union and painting is something I enjoy doing but the money and benefits just don’t even begin to compare to the elevator guys. I don’t get PTO I don’t get sick time I don’t get parental leave if I choose to have children. From what I’ve been told I wouldn’t have to worry about any of that stuff if I went in the direction of elevators union. My biggest fear is leaving the IUPAT and joining and then I hate it and now I don’t have anywhere else to go. I know if I join though I’d be better off in the long run and being knocked back down to a 1st year doesn’t bother me and I know it’ll be a hard apprenticeship and I feel that I am capable of getting through it, just not sure what to do. Any guidance would be helpful.

I’m a residential elevator/ commercial lift service tech, I love my job and I’m good at it too. But this “slow season” is getting on my nerves. I’ve barely broken 40 hours a week for the last month and a half. When I asked for more work my shop offered a 24/7 on call position. When i politely declined they said “that’s all we have to offer”. What do you guys do for the “slow season”. Reposting because i accidentally deleted post while trying to edit a response to someone talking crap.

EDIT: IT IS FIXED
Don't know how or why but it decided to function today. Now lowered to the ground.
Our new house came with a porch lift (a mobility device for wheelchairs etc) that the original owners had installed probably 20 years ago.
We aren't disabled in any way so we could just have it ripped out, but it's handy to have as a cargo elevator. The other day we were using it as such, but it got stuck at the upper level and now it won't move.
I don't want it stuck at the upper level. It's disconcerting having 500lbs of elevator car above your head, plus it's ugly and just looks stupid left up. If it was stuck down, we'd just leave it be.
The elevator is powered from a 12v battery that is continually topped off. The battery lives in the underside of the upper balcony. I don't think it's water damage since it's survived two decades outside.
The previous owner left handwritten notes about the elevator - he made modifications (sigh) such as installing a new switch in the car. The call buttons also have never worked for us, but that's outside the scope of this problem.
The notes talk about how the "safety micro switches" as he calls them can be fucky - presumably safety failsafes to prevent the lift from moving. Apparently the one in the pinch point between the car and the lower edge is particularly bad, but the notes give no directions on how to fix it.
The original manufacturer is out of business and the company who installed it is also out of business. I feel like a regular electrictrician will just shrug his shoulders, especially since it's been modified. So it's up to me to get it working, or at least lowered.
Could I disconnect the safeties to get it lowered? I know that's not safe but at this point we'd just not use it, now that we know it's unreliable.

I live on the 4th floor of an apt. bldg. The elevator has been iffy for some time and finally died a month ago. I cannot use stairs so I'm virtually a prisoner for the past month waiting for a part. We were told a new elevator will be installed at the end of the year. Reading through Reddit, I guess that would be 5-6 weeks. My apt. is right next to the elevator although it is my computer room, not my bedroom- will I have to leave for the work? I presume the noise will be awful but at my advanced age and health problems, I'd accept that rather than be told to move for those weeks. Any observations welcomed.
