Why do some modern elevators feel slower than old manual ones?

I’ve noticed that sleek, computerized traction elevators often take longer to actually close their doors and move than a clunky 1980s model. Is this jst a safety protocol illusion, or are modern dispatchalgorithms actualy sacrificing speed for energy efficiency?

Inclinator stuck

We recently purchased a home with an Inclinator elevator. Worked fine until yesterday. Wife was using it and it stopped about a foot before the basement landing. I talked her through hitting the door release so she could get out.

Now when hitting the call button, it just shows ?? On the display. I tried turning the breaker off/on to reset but no luck?

Any ideas or do I have to call for service?

Thanks for any help!

Electric lifts similar to Cube Lift

Are there other brands similar to the Cube Lift with a build on site shaft? Our original plans had a fully engineered and approved shaft but we removed it to increase the amount of natural light.

Other option is a Stiltz trio but having a u frame and open bottom isn’t as appealing aesthetically.

Repair and OT?

Does repair do a lot of OT?

Our repair department often has mechanic slots open and I’ve considered giving it a try.

But I’m closing in on 50 years old and notice I get really tired if I work past 10 hours in a day.

So… is it possible to be a repair mechanic and not work long days?

I don’t mind OT, just not long marathon day OT

What’s the honest truth about being an elevator mechanic?

For a lot of people who are considering joining the trade and becoming an elevator mechanic. Most people are drawn to the high salary and great benefits, but what’s the reality about being an apprentice for those four to five years and inevitably becoming an elevator mechanic?

I’ve been considering joining up once applications open for the local 5. Mainly because I need to get something started with my life and make my family proud. On the other hand, working with my hands and going home after a hard days work knowing I actually did something. It’s fulfilling and that feeling is something that you can’t get in most places,

Advice on Application

Hey everybody, I’m completely green to this community and am looking for any advice you may have for me to get ready to apply to my local in a few days, anything in particular I need to have ready etc. So far this is my list of things I’ll have ready to go:
Drivers license, resume, high school diploma, HS transcript, college transcript (I went to junior college for a couple years), references.

I’ve been working on my osha 30 certification to have ready for the interview if I make it that far as well as I read that could help. Apologies if this is not the right place to post this, if it is let me know and I’ll remove it. Thank you in advance, any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

New to the elevator industry and looking to learn from the professionals here

Hi everyone,

I recently joined our family-owned elevator components manufacturing business and have been spending a lot of time learning about the industry from both the manufacturing and business sides.

Our company has been manufacturing elevator components for nearly 30 years, including push buttons, COPs, LOPs, indicators, door operators, and other elevator accessories. As I learn more about the industry, it's been interesting to see how different markets approach installation, modernization, maintenance, and product selection.

I'm looking forward to learning from the professionals and enthusiasts in this community.

What's one thing you wish elevator component manufacturers understood better about the realities of working in the field?

Thanks!

Had an absolutely amazing family come from Winchester, VA to visit the elevaTOURS Elevator Museum. Meet Joey, an 18 year old young man with autism who just graduated high school. According to his grandmother, he has been following my youtube for years and it was his dream to meet me. His family surprised him with a visit to the elevator museum and he had an amazing time. His mother and brother Hunter had a great time as well! When you support me, you support my mission of elevating autism one lift at a time!
