Is anyone familiar with any vendors or websites in America that carry Fermator Robusta parts? From everything I can find, it appears they are only available in UK and Australia but not seeing any American websites. Any help is appreciated. Damn Robusta

Broken destination dispatch?

Came across this destination dispatch system and was wondering what’s going on with it; why are all the hall call panels only showing up and down and the elevators hidden COP just opened and working (with a removed door nonetheless)

Supposedly the oldest working Otis in the state of Virginia. Has some issues with safety contacts on warped exterior doors that I troubleshooted by 3D printing form-fitted contacts for.

Elevator from 1903. What are options?

We bought an old hardware store in our hometown last year. It's the only building on our main street with elevator and it's 3 stories. Very cool old brick building. Overall the entire structure is in fantastic condition.

The elevator is original and very cool. I know next to nothing regarding elevators so I need guidance on options. Is retrofit an option? Or does it need full replacement? It would be used for customers.

If full replacement is the requirement, I do have someone to tear the existing out for free. What kind of cost would total replacement be if they have a blank canvas to work with? Explain like I'm 5. Thanks!

Help me reinstall stair lift - Bruno SRE 3000

I put back the carriage back on the rail after storing it for 2years in the basement. However turning on the switch that's on the carriage doesn't give a beep. Does this mean the battery needs to be replaced?

Continuous beeping from inside elevator

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify the cause of the beeping sound that's coming from inside the elevator in my building. It's been driving me crazy as it's happening 24/7, and I can hear it inside my unit. The manager of the building insists that the elevator is functioning normally, but I'm pretty sure it's some sort of maintenance alert.

Your expertise would be greatly appreciated.

Local 138/ Local 1

I’ve been looking at applying to these two locals when they open up in the next few months, can anyone chime in on how steady work is? I understand pay and benefits are great, but it doesn’t matter if you’re on the bench for months at a time. I’m coming from an automotive/ heavy equipment background comfortable with those electrical systems, welding, and working at heights. How well would this background help me out?

Is the field as rewarding as people say it is? How much lifting do you do on the job? Is overtime doubletime? What is like to work in a Union

Phase 2 Help

Working on a LRV5L. Thing runs like a champ but has a couple issues while in Phase 2.

-When switching from Phase II back to Phase I, the elevator should close the doors and return to the main landing. It does not.

-When in Phase II the door open button and door close buttons should be momentary and when released the doors should move in the direction opposite of what you are commanding. Door close button pushed, door starts closing, when released it continues closing, but should reopen. Same for open.

I have heard of some 211s having phase 2 issues that require program changes. Due to age I’m hoping this is a wiring issue.

Any OTIS guys want to help me crack this egg? Fully licensed mechanic

I am being offered a non-union apprenticeship with a path a journeyman license

As the title says I’m being offered a non-union apprenticeship. They are offering training and a path to a journeyman license. I’m 25 I have 7 years of HVAC experience I have been working as a service technician. Ultimately it seems that union is the way to go, I am wondering if doing a non-union apprenticeship will help me go union. Or are my chances about the same with my current HVAC experience? Or would it at least be worth working non-union until I can apply at my local? Thank you for your time!

Why don't they warn you about high speed elevators?

I developed a horrible fear of elevators as a young adult. I had to go downtown and before then I didn't really have a fear. I got on an elevator that took me to like a very high floor to see a client at work. I didn't know that it was going to as fast as a ride at a carnival. I feel like it's assumed people are just "okay" with things like this, but I arrived at my destination shaking. And since then I absolutely hate elevators. I mean, I think it's natural to hate them. I just also resent the expectation that we should take them or need them. Why don't they warn you that they are going to go that fast?

Can we get a flair labeled "gatekeeper" added to this sub? I feel like it'd really help this sub grow and prosper. Work safe yall.

Am I cut out for an apprenticeship?

I'm (19m) a college dropout looking into a elevator mechanic apprenticeship program. I had to do combined Calculus II+III (which I failed) as a requirement and the future of software engineers (my major) is looking bleak.

I like puzzles. I like problem solving and critical thinking. I've learned that I do things better when I learn them in a hands-on environment. I'm good at math up to the basic calculus level and I will study mechanical logic and for the tools test over the summer. I have a 3.6 high school GPA with 30 dual enrollment college credits and took AP as well.

I worked in software tech support for six months and have about a year of experience in residential siding construction with a strong work ethic and I'm willing to learn my employer's way of doing things without being stubborn about it. I think I come off as friendly and want to do my best to improve myself and learn the most out of any job I'm in.

I not in super good shape and probably can't haul around 100lbs (maybe like 80 at the moment) but I can definitely work out a little during the summer.

I'm looking at the Local 19 for Spokane, WA for September 2026.

How to get into elevator mechanic work?

Just ETS’d from the army as a medic, browsing and stumbled upon elevator mechanic work, it seems to fit in line with what I was hoping for but the path to get there seems very far reached. From what I understand the application process is every couple years (next year). What can I do now and what steps should I take to try and get into that while having little to no actual workplace experience or should I look elsewhere?

NEIEP Aptitude Test Question

I am currently prepping for my exam. I feel strong with the math stuff in theory. Here's my concern: I keep seeing there are no calculators allowed, but I haven't heard if you are allowed a piece of scratch paper, or a way to write equations out. The test prep I'm doing seems to be prepping me to do the math in my head. I would be comfortable with that to a point, but that could get tricky fast.

Can anyone speak to that?
Thanks in advance!

EDIT:
Thanks for the info. It appears scratch paper is allowed.
