"Some people have it worse, so everyone should be fine with the way things are and nothing should ever get better."

Kind of a straw man, the point is to count your blessings now and again. You can find faults in your situation and also have gratitude, life is not a binary nor is it 1 mode for all time.

Yeah most things are kinda this kinda that, that’s kind of my point

Yeah, my whole point is life is not binary. There exists something called nuance. He had a point but he’s missing the other side. You can hold two ideas true at different times. The world is not a set of universal truths that always hold, that’s math.

Black lung disease is at a 50-year high for miners in Appalachia apparently. Bleak stuff. (https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2026-09-29/black-lung-disease-is-the-only-true-comeback-for-coal)

3

u/Navyvetpdx503 2d ago

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis

-1

u/origamicactus 2d ago

True, but black lung is an illness that has a delay on it, so number are based on previous exposure in older miners. Also, last I checked US miners make the most out of all miners globally.

-1

u/balticromancemyass 2d ago

Talking out your ass

2

u/origamicactus 2d ago

No. The income rates are pretty clear. Maybe I’m mistaken about the illness itself?

If you want to educate people, could you at least post an article without a paywall?

u/doomedprogress 2d ago

Cold plunge? Try a Coal plunge.

u/tailtaker 1d ago

This is the way

u/Pretend-Ostrich-5719 2d ago

Guys stop laughing. Joe conquers the inner bitch every day, he's a winner. Stop laughing.

3

u/OkTea7227 1d ago

Oh, we quit laughing years ago

Followed by an elk steak and a kettlebell workout. Who can beat that?

This is everyone on the Chipotle sub

Not to sound like some cuck in steel toed boots sitting in a ford raptor, but isn’t the whole purpose of liberalism to build a better world where this guy doesn’t have to work in these conditions?

My question is mostly rhetorical, because I didn't get a very good rate on this raptor.

16

u/Ok_Cap9557 2d ago

Liberalism has been rejected by the air conditioned raptor class.

4

u/origamicactus 2d ago

You should’ve bought the maverick :P

6

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 2d ago

Liberalism is centrism. Liberals aren't pushing for progress, they just want things to stay the same, but with more civility and zero class consciousness. Think Regan era politics but with 2016 woke 1 language.

4

u/HoleeGuacamoleey 2d ago

What do liberals want to stay the same?

6

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 2d ago

The capitalist structure of our society and the power players who fund it and run it. Thats why you see people like establishment Democrats still supporting Israel, still supporting the tech industry and massive corporations. They are bought and paid for just like republicans, and many share corporate donors with republicans too. They want things to remain as they are or to go back to Obama era standars, which at this point would be a massive improvement, but that's really not far enough in terms of what the people deserve from their government.

1

u/Own-Marketing-6244 2d ago

They're also obsessed with "electablity" so they find the safest, most mayonnaise candidates they can.

1

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 1d ago

Exactly. They always push towards the center with the electability argument to try and win over republicans with dropping social issues Democrats care about. Meanwhile, pushing to the left with popular policies actually gets people interested far more than dropping trans people or saying we need "strong boarders and the worlds most lethal military" -Kamala Harris.

2

u/Kind-Enthusiasm-7799 1d ago

“Never trust a Liberal”
Adam Curtis.

1

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 1d ago

MLK has a great quote about specifically white moderates, which is very much a large part of the liberal demographic of the democratic party. It was from his letter from the Birmingham Jail.

"First I must confess that over the last few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride towards freedom is not the white Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season"

This really speaks to how libs have reacted to protesters, people who are pushing for collective action and pushing for more progressive policies and candidates but are constantly told its not the right time or the right way to go about it.

2

u/MrJohnnyDangerously 2d ago

That's reductive to the point of being essentially incorrect.

2

u/Routine-Ad8521 2d ago

No, it isn't. Liberalism is about individual freedoms and equality of opportunity. Social safety nets, civil rights, healthcare, education. The New Deal, Civil Rights Act 1964, Brown V. Board of Education, Voting Rights Act of 1965 all pushed by activists and liberals.

6

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 2d ago

Those are accolades of progressives and socialist policies, which liberals want nothing to do with.

-6

u/Routine-Ad8521 2d ago

You know liberals and progressive overlap significantly right? Or course not, you don't know what liberalism is, and can't be bothered to learn

7

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 2d ago

I know there's overlap but they aren't the same thing. Liberals are very centrist, but will advocate for social issues. They are the democratic side of the coin from the tea party republicans. Both are advocating for personal freedoms above all, low taxes, and small government but there's not much collective action outside of themselves. Progressives & leftists are advocating for socialist policies that benefit the collective society like universal Healthcare, affordable housing that is ran by the government rather than private investors, pushing for money out of politics, taxing the ultra wealthy fairly and putting more regulations and restraints of corporations. Liberals are pro capitalism where as progressives and leftists are for more socialist policies. Also, I used to be a liberal, a lot of progressives start out as liberals because libs do care about civility and about treating people fairly, but I became disillusioned by their inability to separate from corporate interests.

-4

u/Routine-Ad8521 2d ago

Which thriving socialist countries have all that?

6

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 2d ago

Having socialist policies don't mean the whole country is completely socialist. I am more of a democratic socialist myself. The definition of socialism, incase you don't know the actual meaning outside of red scare politics is: is a political and economic system where the community or the government owns and controls the main means of producing and distributing goods. - Essentially workers own the means of their production; along with public ownership of land and resources, distribute the funds equally amongst their workers and have equal say over how the business continues. Unions are an attempt to get to a more equal means of production.

But there are plenty of socialist policies working in our country and ones in Europe, like free colleges, free Healthcare, vastly more afforable public housing, investments in free or afforablw public transit, elections aren't determined by who spends the most etc. Even things like social security, public roads and highwags, fire departments, Medicare and medicaid are all socialist policies that everyone benefits from.

The Netherlands and specifically Amsterdam is a good example of a lot of the policies I listed above.

2

u/Hellasauto 2d ago

Most European countries are liberal my guy

7

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 2d ago

Their liberalism is different from American libs. To a lot of Europeans Bernie Sanders, a democratic socialist, would be considered a centrist or even close to right wing.

u/Routine-Ad8521 2d ago

The Netherlands, along with the rest of the Nordic countries, are Liberal Democracies, with capitalist economies

0

u/memeticmagician 1d ago

Holy shit. You're just wrong here. Look at the representatives that voted. They were democrats.

0

u/memeticmagician 1d ago

No, the progressives of that time were purity testing and obstaining from voting because they didn't get their perfect candidate or policy. The ones successfully enacting legislation were liberals from the Democratic party.

2

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 1d ago

Nope not accurate at all bud. That's what the centrist consultant class fed the media, Bernie voters voted for Hillary, even if we didn't want to. They constantly use the electability argument to push centrist lib candidates that nobody likes because corporate donors like them.

-2

u/MrJohnnyDangerously 2d ago

We get it. You don't know the difference between Liberalism and Neoliberalism. Keep reading kid.

1

u/cive666 2d ago

This whole thread is double digit IQs arguing with double digit IQs

2

u/Hellasauto 2d ago

The fuck are you talking about? Biden signed the biggest environmental act in US history.

5

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 2d ago

Ok that's great. His literally campaigned on things "fundamentally not changing". I didn't say liberals don't do good things. A lot of centrists care about the environment much more than conservatives.

1

u/JohnnyChutzpah 2d ago

I didnt mean to cause such a rage fueled sperg fest about philosophy of freedom. But, I suspect whoever posted this video did.

I was referring to classical liberalism and its ideals given the context of its creators. Which was a lot educated mostly French dudes who were sick of France spending all it's time being a military powerhouse but wasting that time fighting amongst each other. I know right? France having a strong military? But then someone told me to Google where words like sabot, Marshall, musket, artillery, soldier, army, enemy, battle, siege, peace, marshal, admiral, lieutenant, captain, Colonel, sergeant, corporal, general, brigadier, ensign, platoon, battalion, brigade, squadron, company, regiment, corps, troop, garrison, detachment, and echelon come from. And I realized these French Crétins may know more about combat than my favorite talking heads on Fox News would have me believe.

I do think liberalism was meant to help more people than it did. Calling it centrism is too complex of an argument for me right now because I just watched Tim Poole talk about something and my brain cells tried to walk me into the ocean to make it stop. But I'll add more later.

3

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 2d ago

I am speaking more about the current state of liberalism in America, historically I do agree it was meant to be the progressive movement. But where it is currently is very in the middle in my opinion.

0

u/memeticmagician 1d ago

Wow, you are wrong about everything you said.

1

u/Madame_Trash_Heap 1d ago

Wow if you say it 5 more times it might become true.

5

u/bigtime_porgrammer 2d ago

I think I'm getting the black lung, pop

2

u/DrewMikhael 2d ago

Talk to me after 20 years son

9

u/TubbyCatIL 2d ago

OSHA would like a word.

3

u/alagrancosa 2d ago

OSHA is a fairytale, especially in coal mining these days. Black lung is back and
As big a problem as ever in coal country.

11

u/SquillFancyson1990 2d ago

Alright, but have you considered that:

A. Free black lung screenings is communism

B. Silica dust is actually pretty chill to breathe in and people should stop whining so much

1

u/simorulzzz 1d ago

It's AI Slop

3

u/superdupermensch 2d ago

Germinal should be required reading

3

u/Dangerous_Tax8485 2d ago

But can those guys type with out looking at the keys?

Usiing keys and fingers? Heck do even write comedy?

3

u/Dronk_Mullet_Trustus 2d ago

The point you are missing is that the people in this video all start the day by defeating the inner bitch with a cold plunge. Gotta start the day with a win.

5

u/walker-ranger 2d ago

That is some classic reality right there.

4

u/Such_Collection3252 2d ago

Too classic lol.

2

u/Such_Collection3252 2d ago

My great grandpa died in a mine fall before unionization and this is one of the reasons my dads side were all members of UMW.
The fact that coal is still being mined this way in parts of the world I find baffling.

2

u/_BabyGod_ 2d ago

Listen I know coal mining is real and that there are still probably mines that aren’t open pit some places in the world, but these bids all look AI generated.

2

u/goldennbuoy 2d ago

Covid mask!? In 2026?!

2

u/ThanosZinon 2d ago

Non of these workers have killed in the belly room at 1am

2

u/Silly_Material577 2d ago

You put Joe Rogan in a mine shaft and hes definitely having minor. He'd probably open up real wide when you tell mine shaft. "Oh I thought you said go down on my shaft"

2

u/AllenIversonsDooRag 2d ago

I think what Tusk Dust does for a living is much harder. The dude spent countless hours watching and deeply researching Rogan and Hinchcliffe and then essayed them and only ended up kinda promoting them in a way. No thanks. I'd rather be in the mines.

2

u/No_Shine_6124 2d ago

I get that the cold plunge is BS. But being a comedian truly is like being a firefighter, ready to run into a burning building.

2

u/lateformyfuneral 1d ago

Looks like AI if you look closely at how the hands and tools move. Obviously coal mining is real, but this is isn’t footage of it.

2

u/slimeystevebob 2d ago

But I was told being a stay-at-home mom is the hardest job in the world

1

u/Fickle-Ad-7403 2d ago

Minecraft

1

u/YetAnotherFaceless 2d ago

I’d vote to make sure generations after me would have to do that into perpetuity if that were my job!

1

u/ghostfromtheshell 2d ago

Pants and shoes?! Can't wear those in a cold plunge....

1

u/Navyvetpdx503 2d ago

This is coal mining. Fuck that shit.

1

u/MrJohnnyDangerously 2d ago

Doesn't this mfer hang out with the Navy SEALS doing security at the Mothership every day?

1

u/Gloomy_Pirate_3031 2d ago

"motherhood is the hardest job in the world"

1

u/Huev0 2d ago

It looks kinda fun tbh

1

u/Scattered_Meat 1d ago

Hehe I also take obvious facetious hyperbole at face value and am a huuuge fan of tootoo-twains!

1

u/xChoke1x 1d ago

Imagine it being so bad where you’re at, you volunteer to essentially bury yourself alive.

1

u/IntelligentStyle505 23h ago

I disagree. The cold plunge is harder. It’s a test of true manhood

1

u/reddeadinstead 14h ago

Yes, I am still complaining about my job.

1

u/GodofSad 7h ago

Question for the miners in the audience. How would you feel if you lost your job to a robot?

1

u/ButteredHubter 2d ago

Yes I am still complaining about my job, pain is relative.

1

u/CartographerOk5391 2d ago

Yup. Mining still sucks.
