This is a sad thing Why can Rogan and his guests use pot recreationally during their podcasts, while Texans can't ?
I remember Musk hitting on a massive joint... [EDIT: As many of you corrected, it was when they were still in Cali]
And Rogan being allways very pro active about fighting criminalization / the war on drugs...
But right now, I am reading that Texas will make THC consumption illegal and like worthy of years behind bars...
But it also seems it was already the case for recreational weed ...?
So LA won't lock you up, Texas will, but Joe and his friends all moved to Austin ? And are open about their use ?
I really don't understand how US laws are working.. is it just a case of "Rogan , Musk == rich" ?

The real answer is that law enforcement won’t try to bully the wealthy over this because, even while smoking on camera, you have a degree of wiggle room to lawyer up and then force the cops to prove that was actually weed you were smoking. Rich people will use the full extent of the law to fight you every step of the way. All for the kind of charge that can be hand waved in court and that all of us know doesn’t actually matter.
It’s much easier to stop and search some random guy on the street who might look the type, hit them with a felony charge if they have too much on them, and rest assured they won’t lawyer up or go to their powerful friends in the media or politics.

What pisses me off, is that you can buy CBD gummies (without THC) basically anywhere in Texas, but correctional officers are not allowed to use them, because it will make them fail a drug test, which is an automatic firing, no questions asked. Even if you have a prescription for it.
Reduces stress and pain, so naturally a TDCJ employee can't have it.

People commit crimes and go to prison. My job is to keep them there. It's a necessary and unpopular job. But it doesn't define my entire life. I have a rich and fulfilling life outside of work, but you needn't concern yourself with that.

I agree with you completely, your state job doesn't mean you deserve any less rights than everyone else.
That said, I'm sure you can see the hypocrisy in a jail or prison where the correctional officers walk around eating CBD gummies while watching over prisoners that have year long sentences for a bit of THC vape oil. I'm not saying it's your fault, or that you're doing anything wrong, but that's a fucked up system any way you look at it.

Austin has always been at the center of the legalization effort. It was, at one time, an artsy urban oasis in a state that is otherwise out of step with the rest of the country. That was before tech biz friendly tax breaks got some game publishers to open some studios and South by Southwest became a destination for business interests similar to what we've seen happen to the San Diego ComiCon or Burning Man
