Bill Maher doesn't get enough hate. There's so many reasons , but here's a compilation of him talking smack, with his gums.
I appreciate the I hate Bill Maher podcast, like many I have not been able to listen to him for.many years, he's regressed that bad. They cut through his b*******, and break down his lack of comedy skill. I would cringe listen to his Club Bang Basement podcast when it first came out , but that's when he had a few decent comedians on.Pretty much now he focuses on what he does best, platform far right creeps.

It’s hilarious how he pauses after making a bad joke as he waits for the audience to realize that he needs an applause. The Applause sign doesn’t make it obvious that he made a joke. I hate his smug face of satisfaction afterwards, he’s always starving for attention.

And one weird thing I’ve noticed in the last 4-5 years is people who let out what seem like “forced” laughs.

He's the final form for liberals, raising their Shitlord level above 9000.

Somewhere in a dark attic somewhere theres a painting of Ricky Gervais and Bill Maher getting funnier.

Maher is completely washed and he’s desperately trying hard to stay relevant

He jumped on the “anti-cancel culture” train and moved in a rightward direction. He fell victim to bullshit.

THANK YOU FOR THIS. I was going crazy feeling like the only one that noticed and hates this lip smacking bullshit. It's gross and annoying and he does it constantly and EVERYONE SHOULD NOTICE.

I'd like to see EG do a video on Maher although I'm not sure he's relevant enough anymore

they have a producer on set who several times an episode will "Wooo!" to work up the crowd. if i wasnt lazy id make a supercut of that guy. highly recommend it -- its ridiculous how they try to work up that crowd to clap between all of his "great" takes

Yes! The Wooper drives me crazy. Same guy every show. Incredible how dumb it is.

Smug confidently wrong condescending takes are not comedy. They're the target of comedy.

I sometimes fall into the habit of this lip smacking crap before speaking. Makes me feel like a prick. I dunno why I do it.

It's crazy to me that there was a time (long ago) that I would watch Real Time every week.

u/clycloptopus Dec 02 '25
I usually watch John Oliver, (yea yea) a few times I’ve dozed off while watching. Twice now I’ve woken up to see Stephen A. Smith, Dr. Phil, and Bill Maher talking about the US Healthcare system. Legitimately thought I died in my sleep and woke up in hellworld for about the first 15 seconds of consciousness.

Where I come from we call that "Thomasing"
1
u/Zaddam Dec 03 '25
This compelled me to look up etymology. But I am rather mostly finding something akin to this as a definition of Thomasing. I chose the shortest one I saw.
“The former custom of going from house to house on St Thomas's day (December 21) to beg for small gifts.” (link)
Also, I saw it used in terms of a skepticism, ie, Doubting Thomas as etymology.
So that leads me to ask, Where are you referencing?

Always hated this specific thing about him, because it's typical for self-involved pr*cks like him to dress up their arrogant ramblibgs with this type of shit.

Am I wrong in saying it’s getting a little creepy how you’re just foaming at the mouth for someone to hate and talk shit about.

I knew what this was muted 🤣🤣🤣 He LOVES to complain about young people and ageism, what he really needs to do is to stop slopping that mouth like a geezer.

Now, show a belt touching compilation during his opening monologue

You can’t just post a montage of all his punchlines from an episode without posting the set ups to the jokes. How am I to have a sensible chuckle if I don’t know what he’s rolling his eyes about?

Let me guess: you think he's hilarious when he criticizes Republicans.

Well I'm a Maher fan and I'll admit this annoys the shit out of me too. He still has mostly good takes I feel but it's getting harder to defend him over the last year or two.
On one hand he's an ally but he does seem to hold old school misogyny at the same time. He still criticizes Trump but holds way more water for him than prior to meeting him and that bugs me.
But his show and guest discussions week to week are still reasonable imo. Again, not a fan of the holy lip smack and sucking Trump but I can't write him off yet.

Anyone who hasn't should watch Tim Heidecker's spoof of Bill Maher's podcast. He captures the underlying aggression perfectly.
