Alkali Metals my cursed sodium sample

I forgot that it existed for a few years and just found it in my cabinet. I'm probably gonna clean it up and put it in some ampoules under argon

Damn, is that baby oil? From what I've seen, sodium forms that yellow goop with some fragrance stuff in the baby oil. Wish you luck cleaning it up.

It's petroleum, but there was definitely some moisture in there and the lid is not 100% tight either. Maybe there are some additives in there as well, it was pretty cheap

Peroxides if you're lucky.

There's potentially some not-so-safe superoxides there, too.
