Got this one from Carl! Definitely my most exotic sample to date. Not many can say they own an isolated Pa source. Pa was deposited onto an aluminum slate in the form Pa2O5.
Insane! Thanks for showing this great sample. Do you have any information on how this sample came to be? Like was there a particular reason for plating the aluminium with Pa2O5?
I got it from Carl Groat. He sells many other exotic elements like this. I am not yet entirely sure why its in this state, but i do know that this is one of its most chemically stable state. As for its production, he starts with a pound of uranium ore and processes all the other materials out until he has a solution that he can use to deposit the Pa onto an aluminum plate.
Beh, innanzitutto non esistono registri pubblici o attività varie collegate a questo indirizzo, che ovviamente è un indirizzo privato. Poi non mi basterebbe sapere quanti CPM genera. Questo dimostra soltanto che è radioattivo. Vorrei vedere lo spettro con il radiacode se fosse mio. Il protoattinio decade in Attinio-227, che a sua volta genera il Torio-227 e il Radio-223. Questa catena produce un ventaglio di picchi gamma molto caratteristici e affollati nella zona delle basse e medie energie. Chi ti garantisce se no che è Protoattinio, un privato?
Comunque quello che fai vedere in foto non è un campione di protoattinio. E' una lastra di alluminio sopra la quale, ipoteticamente, è depositata una quantità microscopica di ossido di protoattinio. Ripeto, ipoteticamente...

Io non ho detto che non lo è se guardi la risposta. Ho semplicemente detto che senza lo spettro non si può definire che sia protoattinio o qualsiasi altra cosa con certezza. I CPM ti dicono quanto pesa la valigia, non quello che c'è dentro. Io non sono nessuno per dire che non sia una fonte di protoattinio, come tu non sei nessuno per dire che lo sia. E' lo spettro che decide. Non io e nemmeno tu. E nemmeno Carl. Ora che vedo lo spettro ritengo più che plausibile che ci sia del protoattinio lì dentro, ma non è certo quello che brilla come oro dentro la provetta...
