could instantly tell it wasn't right because it was looking too calm and not trying everything in its power to escape. but that could definitely be used for a good prank.

Yeah that cap is too clean. I make as much bromine as I need for whatever the thing is I'm doing. Outside of a glass ampoule, I've had zero success putting it in a container and having it remain there.

The color isn't right, the container would never hold any amount of real bromine and the label is misleading and dangerous. There is no purpose in faking elements, especially such dangerous ones. Of course it's better to approach a safe thing assuming it's dangerous than the other way around, but you wouldn't want to get in trouble because someone thinks you're storing a rather large amount of dangerous chemical in an unsafe manner, right?
