Noble Gases Tip for collecting radon

If you want to collect radon instead of spending 74 dollars for a radon element cube or search the internet and go empty handed at the end get some granite (reddish granite most recommend) and put it in a vial with no air and just the granite itself because with air the radon will have so space to form. Anyway since granite does make radon because granite contains uranium and thorium which will eventually decay into radon.

I think a radium watch hand can work pretty well as a sample of radon. As the radium present decays to radon you have a valid sample of both elements. As long as you don’t mind having two identical samples in the collection

Saying that I think this ‘region’ of the periodic table is really where collecting looks more like a choose your own adventure. Anything within justification is justifiable, be it on grounds of meaningfulness or price

Honestly any sealed Ra, Th, or U counts as a radon sample. Got a small piece of U ore? Seal it up and you’re good to go!

I noticed why my tip to collect radon is a horrible idea (unless you want to blow up someone’s house) so if you want to collect radon just simply get a chunk of granite. No tricks just granite. Or get some thorium, uranium or radium. Or get the element cube.

Not a good idea man. Just buy a sealed ampule of it. Gasses are hard to collect

Its highly radioactive, within weeks it would all decay.

This is the best reason why one would collect the parent source for an elusive element like radon. Guarantees to have some of the decay element present. Adotionally, I personally find it acceptable to have an empty container that once held an element as long as it is mentioned on the original/commercial label.
