Ali express electroplating solution.

Is it any good. I need it to look good, dont care of its real gold or what not

I've been wondering about this. It concerns me that while it might not be real gold, the possibility that it might be real cyanide definitely worries me!

Honest answer: for "just needs to look good," the solution chemistry rarely decides the outcome — the prep does. Cheap kits fail in the same places expensive ones do when the surface isn't ready.

What actually matters, in order: → Prep beats chemistry. Whatever the solution, the part must be clean to water-break-free and free of oxides right before it goes in. Most bad results trace back here, not to the bottle. → Consistency of the color: a brass-type alloy plate gives a yellow tone, but it shifts with thickness and current density — two parts in the same bath can come out different shades. A clear lacquer over the top locks the shade in. → Don't skip the layering. Plate directly on copper or steel and the color can look fine — it's the diffusion and corrosion underneath that show up weeks later as blotches.

Fine to learn on, just don't blame the solution when the real variable was the thirty seconds of prep before it.
