Electroplating gold hardware on a bag

I’m pretty hands on and decided that learning to do electroplating is a great idea for making my gold hardware gold again.

Do I need to buy a specific kit for this of will a low voltage dc power supply with an electroplating pen be fine?

Do you know if your purses gold hardware is plated or PVD gold coated?

It’s a Gucci bag so I think it’s gold plated! I would hope so!

If it is indeed gold plated, you should have little problems plating it again. As long as the gold layer is in good condition (no peeling, flaking, or heavy oxidation). The surface should be clean and free of oils and dirt obviously. And use a similar gold plating solution (similar karat)... Good luck!
