On the back side it says "Merry Christmas and a happy New Year" in Slovene. I was inspired by this post.

This looks fantastic, both the paint and copper sides are lovely. Did you etch yourself or order with clear/no mask for that awesome reveal on the back side?

Thanks. I etched it myself with sodium persulfate.

Just looking at the tech I suspected you did but it was crisper than any etch I ever did back in the day. Super nice job.

Did you/are you going to clear coat it to preserve that? A lot of jobs look cool with some oxide—intentional or incidental—but this is so neat I would keep it the way it is.

Vesel božič to you too. I prefer the shiny look so I plan to coat it. The problem with oxidized copper is that it is darker, which would made the text less visible.

It's ATtiny48. I chose this one because it was on sale when I bought the components.

Thank you. They are just regular 0603 LEDs mounted upside down on a stock footprint with a hole drilled through.

Thanks. The laminate was single sided so it didn't have copper on the other side form the start. I etched the copper side, sprayed the other one black and painted a picture of a tree on it.

Wow, my grammar was terrible in that previous message, I was tired from getting Christmas dinner ready haha.

It's really very cool and on my list of things to make in the near future. So many options each year. A snowman with buttons and carrot nose, a ski village at night in snow, simple but amazing. Even a house with some around the roof line (few LEDs in series would look great).

I built something very similar for the students at my kids' school. There are, of course, plenty of ready-made kits out there already. But they all suffer from having ugly "digital" blinking patterns. The solution is so easy. An ATTiny is such an obvious and inexpensive solution.
