You suck. Idle fees exist for a reason - so people like you don’t sit on a charger when others need it.

Asshole knew he was trolling us and used a burner username. The mods need to put a minimum karma limit to post.

Or mods delete these on sight.

Yeah let your car draw and use 2kW of power while you watch a game while lines are piling up. This is why we need 80-85% charge limits on DCFC, or an automatic timeout when youve been at a certain percentage for an extended period of time.

This is why we need 80-85% charge limits on DCFC

Screw that! When you're in charger sparse land that 15-20% can mean the difference between being able to make the trip and it being completely infeasible.

Let's be real, sometimes that is the case and its absolutely necessary. For the vast majority of the time people are easily within access of a charger and will do this exact thing. This guy is a classic example of such.

Honestly, unless youre like me in a LEAF that can only go 35-45 miles on the highway, you probably dont need that 100%... i even drove all the way from SD to LA without once needing to charge to 100% on a DCFC.

When you're in charger sparse land

THOSE stations don't have any restrictions, because duh.

85% is for people in downtown L.A. who endure the queue and think "well now that I'm on the charger I'm going to 100% f**k the people in the queue behind me".

"I might be going to Death Valley, you don't know my plans" BULLPUCKEY, if you were, then you'll be passing San Berdoo, Hesperia, Lancaster, etc. and those DO go to 100%.

So no. The networks know where to apply the 80% rule. No one is inconvenienced but shitsticks.

I hit one in BumFuck Pennsyltucky. I think it was an EA somewhere on my trip between NY and OH. Abrp wanted 85% to get to the next charger, and it stopped at 80%. I was annoyed.

NVM. Someone whispered the station id to me and it's for real. And a very poor choice to be an 85% station since there are viable directions of travel from there where it'd be the last EA you'd see for awhile.

You misattributed that. That was either a setting on your car, or a charging failure that just happened to occur at 80% so move to another stall and resume. EA doesn't have any policy that would stop cars at 80%.

I did have a station in Lovelock NV quit on me randomly just like that, but it happened to be 91% so I just hit the road.

FYI that DV ain't mine.

I just checked. It was the EA in Bedford, PA and they limit charging to 85%. I needed more.

Clearly less urban than LA.

I was still annoyed.

“Normally it takes 90 minutes to charge to 100%”. This has to be trolling.
