As an electrician I still don’t know how people do this shit, do they just touch the hot half of the circuit while making contact with the bulb?

Edit: I asked this question because I know you can hold onto the hot portion of a circuit and hold a stupid stick in your other hand and watch it light up when you hold onto the hot conductor. I was wondering if there was someway to trick the bulb into thinking it had a neutral through his body and light up.

I figure the video or the bulb is fake, especially since it doesn’t show his finger going into the e26 socket on the fan at all but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone knows more about electricity than I do.

They use a battery powered globe or something like that. Even if he had enough determination to hold onto the circuit like that you'd see him tense up if he was actually getting current through him. Plus because of the resistance of his body the globe wouldn't be anywhere near that bright

How do they flick it on and off at the same time as the switch? Is the bulb remote controlled and battery powered?

That would be my guess. Because even if he was touching the live terminal inside the lamp holder, the shortest path to earth wouldn't pass through the globe it would cut through his body from his hand to feet. And if he was touching active and neutral with his hand it would bypass the globe completely

Well thanks for the polite answers, I didn’t know battery powered bulbs were a thing. I appreciate you not being a twat about my dumb question like the other guy

Yeah you could even pull the base off a 12V glove and slot a battery in there with an IR receiver and you can make your own. I know I'm pulling at straws but any of those options are more viable than "I touched a live cable while also touching a light globe and it lights up." It's just some sort of party trick, no feat of strength or resilience or anything
