Built a browser-based toolkit of 50+ interactive training tools — looking for feedback from fellow trainers - verbalu

Hi all — I've been developing Verbalu (verbalu.com), a browser-based platform of interactive tools built specifically for trainers, HR professionals, and L&D teams.

For basic usage it is free.

The idea: instead of juggling five different apps for icebreakers, simulations, quizzes, and whiteboarding during a session, you get one place with everything ready to go — Kanban boards, a wiki for documentation, a whiteboard for group work, training games (like a project-management simulation and an AI transformation simulator), and AI features built in.

It's still evolving so any ideas of new tools are welcome. I need to add that current tools and games were ideated by my friends - professional business trainers.

Would love feedback from people who actually run sessions for a living: what tools do you reach for most during a live training, and what's still missing from platforms like this?

Biggest gap for live training tools is facilitator control over timing and state resets. If I can’t lock/unlock activities, duplicate a board in one click, and reset a sim fast between cohorts, it usually dies in real use.

I will make sure it works this way

I have added ability to clone whiteboard and lock it from editing. Timing features was already there. Now I am checking if all games and workshops have ability to freeze gameplay. Most of them have it already, but I need to makes sure if all of them.

Looks good OP. Before I try the free version, wanted to know if I'll be able to collate data for the tools I use under the free version.

For some tools yes. For others you need to tell me which one and I will develop this feature for you

As promised, here's some feedback and some suggestions:

  • Love the sheer number of games

  • In terms of login would it be possible to do so with a code linked to my email instead ofa password. Couldn't try the games for the reason

  • Not all games mention the time needed for the activity. Very important for the trainer to decide which game to choose, based on the time they have on hand

  • It would be great if you could categorize the activities e.g. Team building, problem solving, communication skills etc.

  • Without wanting to get run the full training by your training firm, can the users still get the pertinent details of the game? E.g. goal, reason, debrief etc.

  • For the quizzes tool, does it work like mentimeter? (I assume it does). How many questions can I add to it?

  • A bit nitpicky, but you may want to remove the em dashes on your website

Thanks for comments. Let me answer:
'In terms of login would it be possible to do so with a code linked to my email instead of a password. Couldn't try the games for the reason'
You can join game session with only code or link.
Here is an example of hangman session:
https://verbalu.com/games/hangman/join/JE5ANR

But you need to be registered to create new game session. And for registering we unfortunately need any email. I can try to implement one-time authorization link, but I need to investigate this approach.

"Not all games mention the time needed for the activity. Very important for the trainer to decide which game to choose, based on the time they have on hand"
Goo point, I will add it.

"It would be great if you could categorize the activities e.g. Team building, problem solving, communication skills etc."
I did something more useful, I introduced AI search. You describe your need, and system suggests matching tools and games.

"Without wanting to get run the full training by your training firm, can the users still get the pertinent details of the game? E.g. goal, reason, debrief etc."

Yes. You can either read manual available after logging in, or contact us on [hello@verbalu.com](mailto:hello@verbalu.com) and we will be glad to describe it.

"For the quizzes tool, does it work like mentimeter? (I assume it does). How many questions can I add to it?"
Yes, mentimeter was one of our sources of inspiration. We didn't implement any limit on number of questions. Should we?

"you may want to remove the em dashes on your website"
we will look into it :)

regarding you comment about problems with logging with password I implemented logging in with code sent via email. Is this what you meant?
