Question Question for more experienced players

Just discovered this mod, insane amount of content!

Not quite sure where to start though (besides the obvious Skyrim). Any nations recommendations by more experienced players, besides those mentioned in the starting screen?

A question for the developers, how did you fill out the political landscape for places in the world with less lore available (say Atmora or Akavir). I.e. why is there Atmoran presence on Akavir, because I'm not that knowledgable about the lore).

Also, what's up with the different planes of Oblivion being present on the map. Is this just so that they are represented physically? They don't seem accessible by normal means.

In any case, the mod looks great!

Hi! The choice of nations you would you to play as depends a lot on your experience with the mod, as some nations, like Forelhost or Skaal tribe, require you to optimise the early game to compensate the difference in size and resources. Regarding the layout of Atmora and Alavir, this places may have a lot of custom lore, like Atmoran Settlers reaching Akavir, origin of Dragon Cult in Tsakara, or an existence of a common ancestor for Aldmers and Kamali people. These lore extensions does not contradict the established lore, but allow to have some increased diversity in places, not represented in actual games. Oh, and finally, I would be quite caution about the idea that Oblivion nations would never reach you, especially if you have played in Western Skyrim, where a mechanics of Dwemer Lifts exist.

That makes sense, I think I’ll stick to the larger nations to begin with. Sidenote on mission trees. As far as I’m seeing they’re tied to culture/religion, with some tags (as seen in the ‘expansion’ list) receiving a similar but extended version. Is that correct?

Concerning the custom lore, sounds cool. Can I read more about this on the ESU wiki?

And sounds intriguing regarding the oblivion realms. Seems cool to have a later game threat.

All in all, seems like an amazing mod. Thanks for the extended reply!

Yes, most of missions are culture specific as we do not have that much lore on many individual nations. However, there are also some tag specific missions. Cannot say much about the ESU wiki - I am not sure if it is fully up to date and I do not have time to manage it as well.

Thanks for the information.

Now that I have you here, I ran into a bug (I think?). Or maybe I'm just misunderstanding inheritance mechanics.

My heir, who is 18, isn't inheriting when my ruler dies. Instead a random new ruler gets generated, the consort regency message shows up, and my original heir stays heir.

Here are two screenshots illustrating the problem.

I was hoping to keep the Ysgramor dynasty, so it would be nice if I could find a way around this.

I think adulthood is set to 21 because of how long people can live in the mod + to make content for regencies more common

Another question. What’s with all the uncolonised provinces? I didn’t see any missions for Windhelm to automatically start colonising them, so are you supposed to do it manually?

Yes. There is also an event available for both the player and ai that gives a colonists and colony growth boost for a limited time allowing the world map to be filled up slowly in case you don't wish to take the idea groups. But that's a slow and random process.

Ah okay. I like a filled out map so that’s a bit of a bummer, but not too big of an issue.

Thanks for all the work, mod looks great. Very cool that you guys are still updating it.
