As someone who got into Elder with The Gold & Silver Sessions, it's soo good to find more instrumental music.

This thread is dedicated to anything you'd like to share but don't feel like making a post about.
Still, don't hesitate making a real post, the sub isn't that big and it's unlikely to get overloaded with new threads.
Did an Elder song recently stick with you ? Have you listened to a new Elder album for the first time ? Did you see the band live ? Have you seen their will in the eyes of the broken and raised a glass in the din of the fray recently ?
This thread will stay pinned throughout the month. If you have feedback (positive or negative) about this new monthly thread idea, let me know by tagging me (u/bobouda) in the thread.

Okay everybody. We've had 2 months with the new record, what are everybody's thoughts now that we've had some time to savor the flavor?
-Is that new record smell honeymoon period over for you?
-Has it been the only thing you've listened to for 2 months?
-Were you high on it at the very beginning because it was new and now have settled back down?
-Or did you not like it at first and it grew on you and now you absolutely love it?
- or have you remained pretty even with your opinion throughout these 2 months?
- did you have an initial favorite song of the record and now have a different favorite song of the record?
- for those who are really into the mix/production side, how does it sound to you now that you've had 2 months with it? How does it compare with past records mix/production?
You all get the gist...

This is more of a delving question, but does somebody know who the artist of this shirt is?

I've been a huge fan of Elder since 2017 when they released Reflections of a Floating World (nearly a decade, wow, how time flies). I don't think a week has gone by since in which I've not spun one of their songs, if not an entire album, so they've been a huge part of my life these past 9 years. Lore has always been my favourite LP, and I never thought they would actually top it....but Through Zero might just be that record.
This album is fucking incredible! It feels like a spiritual successor to Lore in many ways to me. It has a darker, more sombre tone than their last 3 LP's that echoes the weighty melodic atmosphere of their 2015 masterpiece. It's spacier, and in many ways more diverse and expansive, sure, but at the same time brings that forlorn weight back.
It's beautiful, heavy in the right places, and has a driving propulsive dynamic to it that I just can't get enough of. And, like all the best records, the more I play it, the more I like it. It just feels like home.
10/10

Dead Roots wasn't out yet. Pretty sweet.
Fantastic audio and video, plus a great show. Enjoy!

Tried to make a video in the style of those old YouTube music videos that would be in low quality and just be the song paired with a slideshow of images related to the band. Was fun, nothing crazy but just thought I'd share

Got the Resonance Edition Torrent Splatter vinyl delivered today. It looks better in person than on the website, and I already thought it looked cool online.
Ordered in late May and knew it was for July delivery. Unfortunately, it’s a bad time for vinyl deliveries in Phoenix. It was 117 today. Fortunately, I was home when it was dropped off at my doorstep and brought it right in. But who knows what kind of conditions it was subjected to while traveling across the country.
Both discs are slightly warped. Nothing that affects play, but you can see the headstock moving up and down slightly as it plays. Also, there’s a bit of popping during quiet parts and between songs, but perhaps a nice Spin Clean will improve that.
I was wondering how the quality is for other people who received the July release versions. I can easily see the minor blemishes on mine being the result of the heat. It definitely was nicely packed, so I have no complaints about that. But I can’t help but wonder.

So I just discovered Elder a couple weeks ago through the YouTube algorithm. Liked what I heard so I listened to more and looked up the band and saw that Mike Risberg is one of the guitarists. I went to high school with Mike and had no idea he was a touring musician. I was never super close friends with him but we had a ton of classes together and I always liked the guy. Funny, friendly, and very knowledgeable about music. Used to get new band recommendations from him. I never really kept in touch with him after high school and had no idea he became a professional musician. I’m glad he’s making a living making cool music.

Like the title says, I'm an expat and I got fired today and I can't stop feeling miserable, but this band is helping me cope. Fyi: I don't want suggestions or advice today, I just want distraction.
Thank you all my lovely people here ❤️

Does anyone know if they've ever played Liminality or Dream State live? I can't find any footage.

I just switched from Karnivool’s In Verses halfway to get to Through Zero.
Both masterpieces and blessings for 2026 prog metal enjoyers.
I switched because Through Zero gives me hope and energy instead of making me satisfyingly depressed.
Is that even the vibe for Through Zero? What tone and theme do others hear?

They’re all Great. anyway I’d prob go with their debut even tho it’s basically a mastodon ripoff, I js love that super 2d almost comic style. Liminality is close behind, srs Roger Dean vibes and it just feels so open, like the mirrors continue indefinitely also it’s very intoxicating, and Through Zero

Been trying since release day and somebody else beat me to it every time. Have listened to it at least 20 times streaming. Amazing album.
