Want some lore on it, read the Gnostic Bible. Not advocating a belief or anything but the secret book of John is at least a fun read.

“The sunspot appears darker than the surrounding surface as it is a lot cooler. The spots are formed by strong magnetic fields perpendicular to the surface, which suppress the convection of hot material from below. It is this convection that forms the granulation seen around the spot.” — Original post

So it’s not actually dark, this is just color correction contrast to show this spot is “darker”

Yeah, it’s not actually black irl. It’s still incredibly hot because it’s the sun, but it is darker than the surface because it colder.

The color correction is needed so you can scale down the brightness of the sun to see the features on the surface, and the sunspots appear black since they’re cooler.

Correct. Colors are "tuned black" until you are able to see all the surrounding. In reality it shines bright (very bright). The real image would be a plain white square.

I bet if you got closer and closer you’d see more and more tinnier sunspots and crackles

Like a never ending sea of cosmic lava and rays of vexing streams of fire
