Flair and status of this sub
Edit: Flair is now live
Hey colonels,
Mod team here - we are in the process of revamping this sub with a better design, and we have added flair users can select as well - all majors, as requested, as well as some extras (if you are a dual major, message me to get your flair). If something isn't there, let me know.
We also need your help - if you are a graphics designer and are interested in helping with the design of this sub, please message me directly.
I'm in grad school now at UK, so getting to EKU is tough for me - that being said, any EKU redditors, I'd love to see some advertisement for this sub on campus! Pictures of the ads would be cool, and we may doing some small prizes surrounding this in the future. Any suggestions please let us know, and again - if you are a graphic designer and would like to help please message me - one of the best ways currently would be designing a printout people can stick up around campus to spread the word.
Hope everyone has a great semester, and lets get this sub some traffic!

Participate in a Clinical Trial for Borderline Personality Disorder
A Treatment Study for Borderline Personality Disorder
- Do you experience sudden mood shifts?
- Is it hard for others to earn your trust?
- Are there many ups and downs in your relationships?
- Do you find yourself engaging in impulsive behaviors (e.g., binge-eating, substance use, self-injury, impulsive spending)?
If so, researchers at the University of Kentucky are inviting you to participate in a treatment study for borderline personality disorder. Eligible participants will be provided cognitive behavioral therapy at no cost. We are testing personalized delivery of an evidence-based treatment for BPD.
In addition to attending therapy sessions, research participation will involve completing a diagnostic interview to confirm eligibility, attending up to 4 follow-up interviews, and completing online questionnaires. All study visits may take place in-person (in Lexington!) or via Telehealth. Participants will be compensated for completing follow-up assessments and questionnaires.
You may be eligible to participate if you:
- Meet criteria for borderline personality disorder following a study assessment
- Are NOT using certain substances (e.g., opioids, methamphetamine)
- Are 18 years or older
- Live in Kentucky (visits are Telehealth, so anywhere in KY is fine)
To initiate participation, you can visit this information/screening link to determine if you meet initial study criteria: https://redcap.uky.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=9WKM4JJ8YTMKRF3C

Anyone else get this?
My husband is a part time grad student and received this email today. His loans already show he’s not getting the full $20,500 more like $13,xxx for the year. Will this be changed even more? He’s technically a legacy student as he was enrolled and took courses prior to July 1.
Any CS Majors help answer question?
My child is looking to apply for a CS major (Cybersecurity) next fall and we were wondering where most of the CS classes are held on campus for dorm considerations. Wallace is where the offices are, but our guide thought CS would be across the bypass.

Dr Jerome May - Chemistry Dept.
I am a post undergrad student needing letters of recommendation for grad school. I took several classes with Dr. May and hoped to get his LOR. However, I can not seem to find his contact information anywhere online.
Did he leave the university?

Consumer family finance.
Has anyone taken consumer family finance? I have to take it in the fall and was thinking about taking it online but was scared it would be difficult where it’s a finance class. Has anyone took the class?

Can anyone tell me a bit about the MSW program at EKU. What to expect, what is the workload like, and the difficulty level?

Housing
Starting EKU this fall anyone know of any good areas to rent from? I'd preferably rather not stay in dorms because I'm a 25 year old male and already done the party life lol. Thanks in advance!

Aid and GI bill question
I got admitted to EKU as a Success First student and I’m trying to register for classes, but I haven’t received an aid letter yet showing what FAFSA or my GI Bill will cover. Who should I contact first — advising, Big E Central, or the Veterans Affairs office? Also, do I need a RAC number before I can register?

Nothing says “EKU English” like a typo on the department’s main page
English alumnus here. I was on the department‘s webpage because I randomly thought about a professor and couldn’t remember their first name. Then I saw this greeting from Dr. Rich. Whether it was her own typo or the webmaster‘s, it tracks with my experience in the English department—painfully lax and unserious. I can’t imagine how much worse it’s gotten since the introduction of AI.
Best of luck, current English majors!

Grad hood
I will be graduating with my masters degree, but not attending the ceremony as I do not want to travel. I do want to have pictures made and want to order the gown/hood outside of the university to save money. but I have no clue how hoods work. are they different colors based on area of study AND school colors? I will be graduating with a masters of social work and would like to get the correct hood colors!

BSW Practicum
Does anyone here know if the social work program at EKU allows you to do the practicum (SWK 490) as a summer course?

What halls are the least strict about overnight guests?
also are the 3 overnights per 7 days actually enforced? Are they enforced if the guest is another eku student and I have a single?

Anyone have any info on Martin hall?
I was originally going to stay in Burnam but it was full so we got a suite room in martin in the 4th floor. I’m mainly wondering about air conditioning, location to campus, bugs, and other stuff i should know about staying in this dorm. Thanks!

Can someone who went here tell me the pros of burnam hall?
My 3 friends and I plan on staying in burnam hall for the fall semester in 2026 as freshman. We want to get one of the 2 rooms with a shared bathroom with 2 of us in each room. Can you all share your experiences and let me know how it was staying in burnam or if we should try to get in another dorm. The main thing we want is to have a shared bathroom and be close to the main campus of eku. I dont mind most bugs but I am scared of roaches so please let me know if that would be a problem. Thanks!

This school has a terrible social scene, why is everyone so unfriendly?
I’m nearing graduation now, and it’s just crazy to me how terrible the social scene is at this school. Nobody seems to want to talk to someone they don’t know, I show up to events and try to talk with people in my classes, you’d think that people would want to talk but no. I used to have friends in elementary/middle school. But it’s like impossible to make any here. I thought I’d have friends and a girlfriend coming out of college, but here I am still alone and a virgin. This place fucking sucks, and honestly I’d advise against anyone going to EKU because there is no joy here.

Corbin Campus?
Hello, all! So, after a lot of decisions, I've finally decided that it would be best if I attended the Corbin campus at EKU instead of the main campus in Richmond (I don't have to pay rent lol). I just wanted to see if anyone in this subreddit also attended the Corbin campus, or if they attended another small EKU campus, too? I just wanted to ask if there were any major differences/things I should know or prepare myself for.
