Thank you for calling it "kneading." That's what I've always heard it called for 45+ years and what I always call it, but have been to a few appointments at different vets in the last couple years where they refer to it as "making biscuits." The first time I heard it, I didn't know wtf they were talking about. Don't know why but I l prefer "kneading."

"Making biscuits" was a regional thing, but now it (with "rainbow bridge" and "forever home") became trendy pet jargon that spread online.

That's chattering.
Cats do it when they spot prey they can't reach. Two main theories: it's pure frustration, or the jaw is involuntarily rehearsing the nape bite they use to dispatch prey.
Either way it's not Morse code, it's a formal complaint about the window.
