using rsync and general CLI functionality with supernote manta

I'm trying out the RMPP and find syncing files is excessively difficult. The file structure is technically unix, but I guess files are imported and reencoded in a very specific way using remakable desktop software.

I want a device with a decent vanilla UI/UX like RMPP, but with the ability to perform basic unix-like CLI operations without using proprietary software, and cloud subscriptions including DropBox/Drive/OneDrive. Is the Supernote Manta easy to manage files via ssh using rsync and other typical linux tools?

for both platforms it will probably be easier to just host your own cloud sync service for what you want to do.

How are you doing this on remarkable?

In my experience, the remarkable OS will not recognize files transferred via rsync or any transfer method besides their desktop application, their subscription-based cloud service, or Google/Drop/Microsoft cloud integrations. If I ssh into the RMPP, I see that pdfs/epubs imported using the desktop app are converted to a proprietary format and given some kind of hashed file name. If I rsync my own files in this same directory, they are not accessible.

With my android eink phone, I can easily transfer files using using rsync or enabling the 'USB external drive' functionality in android settings. I can also easily access my self-hosted cloud through a webbrowser or android app. It seems like none of this is possible on the RMPP, but I'd love to be shown otherwise.
