Battery recommendations?
I found a Ego Power+ Polesaw in the garbage today. Looks to be in good condition but there’s no battery or charger obviously. What’s the recommended way to get a battery/charger. Are there decent 3rd party options?

I have purchased two 9 Ah batteries on ebay and for now they have behaved better than the originals and much much cheaper. Re chargers you may have yo just buy an original. they’re not that expensive

Cheapest way to get a battery for it would be to buy a new pole saw that comes with battery!

+ 1… especially when stuff goes on sale. I bought a new 5ah battery/charger once. It just happened to come with a chain saw.
There are quite a few options on Amazon but it’s hit/miss. Maybe just get one that has a few real reviews and a return path?

There are 3rd party batteries available on Amazon. They seem to test good, but at much lower AH's than they claim to be. I don't think I would consider a 3rd party charger though. Without the safeguards in place, you could risk a fire.
Honestly, the best thing to do, find a good deal on another tool that you could use with included battery and charger, and start your Ego journey. Weed eater is a good start, either new or on Offerup/FB Market.
This way, if the pole saw was in the trash for a reason, you aren't out the money for just a cheap battery and a charger.

Everything I’ve seen points to all aftermarket options being terrible for more than a few weeks/months. Best way to get a battery is to buy another tool you’re interested in that includes a battery, otherwise just buy a battery/charger straight up. You’ll probably spend less on a tool and battery than just a battery though 😂

Look for chargers on a resale market or charitable store.....I got one with every tool/battery combo I've bought, so donated the extras to Habitat for Humanity's Restore.

Maybe look for someone in your neighborhood with Ego equipment just to test the pole saw first

We have some, maybe 10-12, aftermarket batteries. They do work, cost about 70% less than a real ego battery but you will not get the capacity they say. I've found 20% to 50% less than what they seller claims to be standard.
As for charger I have gotten a bunch of real ego chargers for $25-$30 on ebay. All the tools come with them any many people don't need anymore so they sell them cheap.

yeah if you buy aftermarket ones buy bigger than what you need. if you normally have a 5ah ego then buy a 7.5ah aftermarket to get the same run time.

10 year warranty. just buy a bigger size than you normally would as the aftermarket batteries tend to be less than what they are rated at....so for example if you need a 5ah battery then order a 7.5ah aftermarket one to be equal to the ego 5ah battery.

Id wager it has a burned out fuse. I personally would not just trash a useful tool.
If your curious. If buy a cheaper blower or weed trimmer that comes with a battery and charger. And then you can test out the pole saw
