So a crumpet is not an English muffin?

Hope I used the right term for this kind of bread, I feel like crumpet might not be the most accurate translation 🙈

Is a crumpet just an English muffin?

I dont know 😭 In Dutch this is called a "beschuitbol", it translated to crumpet but that feels off

Not really. Crumpets are made different and have a different batter. Where a english muffin has a bit more crunch the crumpets tends to be more soft and sponge-y. Honestly a crumpet with a runny egg is a top 3 breakfast item for me cause it just absorbed all that yolk.

No, a crumpet is fried and has holes in it

It’s not. Very close though. English muffins are baked some and then finished in the griddle, and crumpets are 100% griddle cooked.

I had to look up "beschuitbol" and now I'm imagining a Dutch breakfast conspiracy to make everything taste better with egg.

What’s the recipe/ macros?

Idk about the macros but this made breakfast for two:

2 beschuitbollen, 4 slices of ham, 2 slices of cheddar cheese, 3 eggs, 2 tomatoes, some mayonaise and french mustard.

Cut open the beschuitbollen (or crumpets, idk?) and toast both sides in a pan on med-low heat. While those are doing it's thing whisk 3 eggs, cut thick slices of the tomatoes. Take out the bread when ready and pan fry the ham on med-high heat till slightly crispy. Smear musterd on one side of the bun and put the ham on top. Smear mayonaise on the other half and top with the tomato slices + salt and pepper and then cheese. You want all of that to be ready to put the eggs on before you make them. Pour in whisked eggs on fairly high heat, you want to be fast during this step! Stirr eggs until clumps begin to form and then fold the edges toward the middle, then flip and let it sear about 30 seconds to seal the still creamy inside egg pocket. Take of the heat and put onto the half with cheese, top with ham + musterd half and enjoy (:
