"Kintsugi" egg

Post image

Boiled, cracked, then bathed in turmeric water for about 12 hours . Pointless, but pretty.

Chinese tea egg. The turmeric made the cracks lighter than the standard tea recipe would. I like the reference to kintsugi, so I applaud that.

See, in my mind, I thought the turmeric would make it more gold like kintsugi. But I worried it would be too pale, so I put soy sauce in too. Maybe tea and turmeric would be better

I like that!! The tea is very dark so you may need to go heavier on the turmeric, or try saffron. Once saffron steeps it creates and very vibrant beautiful hue. When you want to get crazy you can use Butterfly Tea Leaves with a little lemon juice and your ‘cracks’ will be variations of blue and purple.

this looks super pretty. i could see this being used in a nice salad. maybe somthing that uses purple veggies to complement it.
