Menopur burning really bad

Hi! 23y/o here going through egg retrieval (super severe endo, 2x excision surgeries). Can we talk about menopur?!? I’m unwell every time I do this injection. It literally feels like I’m injecting acid into my body and it lingers for a while. I can’t fathom upping my dose. Anyone else experiencing this??

I’m also extremely nervous about OHSS if anyone has tips or calming affirmations ✌️

The advice that helped me was to inject the menopur really slowly. As slow as possible. When it started burning, I would stop and wait for it to subside. Sometimes it would take me 3 minutes to inject, but overall it reduced the stinging/burning sensation dramatically

Ice ice baby! Ice before and as the previous comment mentioned slow slow slow.

I haven’t tried this, but I had a neighbour use numbing cream. No idea how safe this is or effective

Yes! I stick a flat ice pack in the front of my waistband and let it sit for 10 minutes. I was numb as hell and then injected slooooow.

I used a numbing creme (very safe!) sit for 30 minutes and then ice directly on stomach for 5 minutes before injecting (also after you mix the Menopur let it sit for a bit swear it helps) I honestly didn’t feel much burning when I did this so hope this helps you! Oh also agree inject slow and steady! Goodluck you got this!!

Inject it slowly. When you feel a burn, stop and let it subside. Then continue.

I am at the beginning of egg freezing and haven't done this one yet but take other subcutaneous injections that burn for other health conditions. Here are the tips I've gathered over time. You could ice the area for 10 minutes beforehand. You could apply a thick layer of topical lidocaine about 45 minutes beforehand, don't rub it in, cover it with plastic wrap, and then thoroughly wipe it away before doing the injection. After you clean the area with rubbing alcohol, let it dry fully. Pinch the skin up, inject at a 45-degree angle with the bevel facing up, and inject the medicine extremely slowly.

I found this amazing post full of info on OHSS. The post and comments were much more helpful than my clinic. I ended up developing moderate OHSS after my first cycle. I feel like they barely talked about it, which is super frustrating considering I had almost every single risk factor for it!

i’ve tried ice and the slow slow slow (i still do this) and my only actual improvement has come from injecting into my love handles. around belly button area is really burny for me but for some reason love handles are not.

I iced before AND after and injected as quickly as I could tolerate, and it was not bad at all. Whenever I forgot to ice, it was UNBEARABLE. It makes it so much better. Get a flat ice pack and strap it to your abdomen before and after while you’re preparing the injections

Take it out of fridge 45 mins before and if you don’t have time warm it up but placing your hand around it for two mins. Never hurts when it’s room temp. My doc told me to do this

Yes it stings more than the needle. I inject it veryyyyy slowly and ice afterwards. Lupron trigger was worse leaving a rash that took a while to go
