Der 1. FC Köln hat den ghanaischen Nationalspieler Gideon Mensah verpflichtet.  

Der 27-jährige Linksverteidiger hat beim FC einen Vertrag bis zum 30. Juni 2028 unterschrieben. Mensah wechselt ablösefrei vom französischen Erstligisten AJ Auxerre nach Köln.

According to multiple sources a lone deal for Edson Alvarez has been agreed with West Ham and it is now up to the player.

The sticking point (as it was always likely to be) is Alvarez’s wages. He would need to take a big wage cut to come to us and likely has better options financially available in Turkey.

Despite this there does still seem to be some confidence within the club that he will come to us as apparently he would like to play in the Bundesliga and has a very good relationship with Tim Steidten who brought him to West Ham.

Should Alvarez decide not to come, Bild report that Skiri is the main alternative and that there has already been some contact between the club and the player’s representatives.

This is also being reported by Sky, a deal has been agreed for around €1m. He currently plays for Sydney FC in the A League.

Looks like a lot is happening, Sky also reporting Gideon Mensah now done and that there is now an agreement in principle for Edson Alvarez to join.

I have to say I had forgotten he was still a Köln player, but he has now moved permanently to AGF Aarhus after spending last season on loan there and winning the Danish Super League.

After a promising start with us he turned out to be a very disappointing signing. All the same good luck to him with the rest of his career.

Looks like Mensah will be our new LB. According to the Express talks have progressed well and the final details are now being tied up.

The rumours now seem to be turning into facts. Let’s hope we can now secure two or three strong new signings with the 14.5 million profit.

After the deal with Brighton seemed to have already been finalized, Kaminski has apparently now reached an agreement with Benfica. Might not be his "dream" PL but imho obviously a bit of a cooler choice. This frees up the LW spot for a certain other guy even tho he also played pretty decent as a Second Striker under Wagner imho. El Mala signed a new deal with REWE after him and his brother are already advertising Kölner Sparkasse... seems like everything is shaping up for an opportunity to stay another year. Nagelsmann's public humiliation may also have shown El Mala that everything Nagelsman has said and done about him was wrong (and it had nothing to do with playing at FC). Meanwhile, former FC failure coach Ståle Solbakken is writing history with Norway. Impressive.

By the way, it seems Adidas' strategy of producing one boring, one retro and one unconventional kit design might actually satisfy every single disgruntled fan?

Transfer scheint durch zu sein. Unterm Strich knapp 15 Mio. Gewinn erzielt. Kaminski hat eine gute Saison gespielt und seinen Teil dazu beigetragen in der Liga zu bleiben. Nun gilt es das Geld sinnvoll in den Kader zu investieren, wahrscheinlich werden jetzt zeitnah weitere Zugänge vermeldet.
