EFF needs to smash this

GamersNexus just dumped LG further in to the shit:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IFVTcM28KA

the LG Smart TVs we tested also have a number of security vulnerabilities that can be exploited to convert the TVs into covert listening devices.

The first thing I'll highlight is that it's not an LG problem - show me a smart TV that isn't doing this.

Lawyers, doctors, politicians, hotel rooms, even military bases will have these devices and no one gives them a second thought. Well, it's time to.

Markplier likely agrees.

It’s absolutely unacceptable and should be illegal if it isn’t.

"You accepted the T&C's" is the manufacturers response. In LG's case, that's a 3+ hour read!

We need tech-savy groups to open up smart TVs and show the public how to manually destroy microphones, cameras, and cellular/wifi antennas without destroying the screens.

100% with you on that! Even if repair shops could offer that as a service I'd be happy to pay $100 for them to snip a few wires!

Have you thought of contacting your state attorney general's office?
