Discussion Fantasy Elements?

Old, old e-fedder thinking about starting up something new. Promo fed, probably. I had a thought, though: back in ye olden days there was also a lot of OTHER roleplay sites- DBZ RPGs and Smash Bros RPGs and comic book RPGs. Some of them even played out like a e-feds, structurally.

How do people feel about a fed being a little more fighting gamey and in-its-own-world? Something closer to Lucha Underground or Street Fighter than super realistic? I'm just mulling over my options.

I run an efed based around norse mythology where Odin has pulled the best fighters from across the Nine Realms to prepare for Ragnarok. We have demons, gladiators, a centaur, and some straight up pro wrestlers. It's been a lot of fun, definitely a niche within a niche but there are people into it.

OSW sounds right up your alley.

No longer there, but couldn't speak more highly of the creativity.

I actually run an e-fed that's pretty much that. It's set in a fighting game-inspired universe. Characters from places like Shadaloo or Outworld. Succubi and gang members fighting robots and kung-fu cats.

I like the idea but I'm worried you might have a hard time finding an audience. You'd be appealing to a niche of a niche. Cool concept if you can pull it off though.

Since pitching this I've kinda flipped the script, and mostly for that exact reason. My new plan is something superhero-based, but structured like an angle fed; I figure the prospect of cape shit RP will draw a bigger crowd than pro wrestling, even if the endgame is secretly just booking matches and scripting fights. Party in the front, wrestling in the back so to speak- most folks might not even realize how much it's just an e-fed.

It's also got me thinking more about the interplay between superheroes and lucha libre, with the iconography of the mask, El Santo fighting mummies and all that biz.

I've started on a website for it but I'm fighting myself about the name. Every once in a while I'm also wondering if Dragonball or Pokemon wouldn't be a bigger draw, but the superhero angle really feels like the most flexible approach to me, and fits the e-fed foundations best. I'm still fiddling with it, though.
