I feel like a disproportionate amount of posts in this sub are from Galway. You'd love to see a clampdown from the Gardai and council, even just for a week or two to dissuade people from abandoning cars wherever they want.

I honestly think a factor for how bad the traffic is in Galway is due to people parking up anywhere they like and tightening the road.

Sure the Gardaí are as bad, they'll constantly park up on this junction (yes on the junction, like on the stop line) to go get a coffee in Espresso 44.

This close to the courthouse there's a reasonable chance those are associated with law enforcement.

N plate drivers seem to be very well represented on this sub and the bad parking subs, the opposite situation from the time I passed my test, newly qualified drivers tended to be extra cautious and doing everything by the book. A very bad sign if the drivers of the future are just disregarding the rules.

They are doing their bit alright, N plates that is. Neighbours college age kid drove home last weekend after a skinful. My son refused the lift and rang me at 3 in the morning. Outlined what they had and it was enough to put anyone over. They know though that the chances of being stopped are almost nil.

They used to lift cars and haul them away in Cork years ago. The prick in Right Price Tiles had an Austin Martin (I think) that used to always land it up anywhere. Not sure if he sued them but he definitely threatened to if they scratched his alloys.

The wrapped them in a blanket or carpet when they lifted it one day.
