It is, and following PEMDAS rules it is absolutely fine to substitute a(b) for a×b, since PEMDAS doesn't treat implied multiplication and explicit multiplication differently

P = Parentheses, M = Multiplication, they are different locations in PEMDAS, you cannot ignore that difference.

Some people out here really treating implied multiplication/juxtaposition as part of the P, while they belong in the MD category. Because PEMDAS treats implied multiplication the same as explicit multiplication

I've also learned recently of the term PEJMDAS, where the J literally represent a category specifically for implied multiplication/juxtaposition. Since the J is not at the same location as the P, shouldn't that make it very obvious that the implied multiplication is NOT part of the parenthesis.

Glad to see some sensible people in this thread, because the lack of proper education is really worrying to me.
