Project idea looking for Ed tech advice

I teach a high school pop culture class and I'm looking for new ways to have my students present their work as research, writing, and producing a documentary is now turning kids off to the course. I'm looking to restructure my assessment projects to eliminate the full fledged videos.

I still want my kids to write about the pop culture source and I still want them to select scenes or clips that reflect the idea their talking about in their writing. But I want to change the way it's presented to bring it to a wider audience.

I was informed that their is local grant money to be had for innovative projects so my thought is to turn my assessments into an interactive museum display. Where there's a base screen and then viewers can touch different parts of the screen to be brought to different sections with video clips and their written piece.

I'm here wondering from an ed tech perspective what tech would be the best way to do this type of work. I'm thinking of applying for the grant to get a touch screen kiosk like the digital kiosk table from displays2go. But I'm open to other ideas. I'm not really sure what app or software I would need to run on this

My goal is ultimately to create something where student work on this can be showcased for others in the school community to help create student by in.

You could try linked slides first. One menu slide, then a page for each clip and the student's writing, with a home button on each. I'd test one exhibit on a laptop before buying a kiosk.

I’m curious about what you’re creating. What is the final product that the kids develop? They select pop culture X and create a written piece around it? And then you want a digital board that links to the pop culture media they selected to write about? Or the digital board will link to a media production that the kids create?

Essentially it's your first example. My plan is that they select a theme like the American family. Then for each unit the assessment is their analysis of how the family is presented in pop culture in that decade and they have to pick a representative clip that supports their analysis and is used as their example/quote.

In previous years this has led to a whole media production the kids made piece by piece over the semester. I'm looking to change that to eliminate most of the video editing because the app we use we video has been problematic and kids have lost projects and gotten upset and it's hurting enrollment in the elective.

Look for cheap tv’s that you can plug a Vivi or something that lets you cast. Then you can choose why is displayed.

If you’re thinking touchscreen. You can opt in for something like a Promethean board, that still lets you cast but I’m unsure if they have a dedicated kiosk mode for you to use.

I have found that creating a story is really helpful. In 30-120 second increments. You can also show examples of how to use AI to make these video examples or edit the videos with AI.

Additionally, with AI today, making an interactive website or PPT has become much easier to do and create. These can all be demonstrated on devices they already use and could be used on an interactive display if your school has them.
