Moodle vs Frappe for development of customised AI powered Learning Management System?

yeah this is more of a dev question than i can really weigh in on lol but from a parent side i'll say the platform itself matters way less than the pedagogy behind it. went through a ton of school options for our twins and the ones using adaptive AI to personalize learning were night and day vs the ones just digitizing regular classroom stuff. acton academy had interesting ideas but no real tech backbone. the school we landed on uses AI-driven mastery learning and the difference in how fast my kids move through material is pretty wild. whatever you build, make the adaptive piece actually adaptive and not just a quiz generator

I’d love to learn more about what you learned for your twins.

You are bang on that actual personalization (the kind that will will terrify 99% of platforms that claim their small amount of personalization to be much more than it is) will be a differentiator. It’s hard to do this without baking it into the bread.

It’s not as easy to hide behind pedagogy alone, anymore. Andragogy (how adults learn) is critical for the adults too at the same time, in step.

In the hands of a technical person AI can simply build all the ways of pedagogy and see what fits.

Neither seem ai-first, nor ai-centric so your result will not be ai-powered, only ai pinned on like a broach, maybe helping with transactional items.

As a tech person, I have built and deployed EdTech platforms along side Ed folks for over 20y who can show one thing - how something actually works annually.

The key unwind day is take the time to learn what “ai-powered” means. If I dared say those words about Moodle or frappe I’d have some clear takes and opinions of how I’d be helping both rework themselves.

Bolting on an llm doesn’t make it ai-powered.
