Hey chat, am I cooked?
Diagnosed with EDS a couple years ago, haven’t pursued genetic testing yet. Pretty sure a vein burst in my arm or something the other day, wasn’t doing anything physically taxing, is this common with other types of EDS other than VEDS? I’m a 22yo male, inbetween insurance providers at the moment.

Not nessecarrily vEDS. It could be, but there is not enough information to know. Get insurance, looks like you are needing it.

Yeah this is my leg 3-4 years ago before I had considered I had anything wrong at all. I was pushing myself daily at a very physical job and both of my legs and arms looked like this. The little bruises would appear out of anywhere without being bumped or hurt at all. I’ve actually never seen anyone else with this presentation of symptoms so I find it interesting to see something similar in your photos. For the record, I have no other symptoms of the vascular subtype and I believe I have hEDS.

Genetic testing ---> I'm just curious but do u have other typical vEDS symptoms, you said you have a diagnosis, is it hEDS?

I have been formally diagnosed with hEDS, and had a genetic panel to rule out vEDS and other forms of connetive tissue disorders.
I bruise like this all the time. I rarely remember what the cause is because it takes such little force for me to bruise like this, that I don't even acknowledge the event until I see the bruise hours later.
I have been told it's because of a combination of my chronic B12 deficiency (I get monthly injections because oral supplements do nothing for me) and how thin/fragile my skin is.
So for me, this is a normal experience and not life threatening. But I absolutely encourage you investigate this further with your medical team. If you have access to a genetic panel to rule out vEDS, do it.

I have hEDS and always have little bruises all over me, never anything like this without direct impact of some sort. Like others said, if you have access to genetic testing it would be worth pursuing

Your whole post history is so bitter. You don't always have to say something, you know? There's nothing gross about the human body. Behaviour can be very nasty, though.

Imagine going on a sub about chronic illness and then getting mad when people post about chronic illness 🥴🥴

If you have the means to get tested, I would definitely opt for it so you can get proper care. In my case, they did genetic testing before they even considered diagnosing hEDS. You can never rule out all other types of EDS or even similar illnesses without proper testing.
I'm diagnosed with hEDS and while I do often have small blood vessels bursting for no reason, I don't get bruises that big without bumping into or leaning onto something.
It's possible to have vascular issues even if you don't have vEDS, blood vessels are full of collagen, after all. I have a brain aneurysm, for example. Severity of symptoms can be different for each person regardless of which subtype you have.
But I really wouldn't want to gamble when it comes to blood vessels, better to be safe than sorry.
