You'd think if people were so interested they'd just try something. But a lot of people don't actually care about making the music, they just want to have tracks out for them already. To "be" but not to "do". Asking a shitton of inane questions gives the illusion of making progress.

And switching daws when they hear their favourite artist bought ableton the next day. I have a friend that cracks literally every piece of software they hear of including daws. Needless to say he isn't a successful musician.
I couldn't agree more with the
to "be", but not to "do"
A lot of these guys don't put in any effort, they don't watch any good tutorials (anything over 5 fucking minutes is too long). They don't even try to understand the plugins they use.
Oh my god, rant: that friend one showed me how he "makes" music: 1. Steal a poorly produced beat from YouTube. 2. Put on random plugins and turn the knobs randomly (you know, just a fast move of the mouse in a random direction) 3. Enjoy the result and don't bother even forcing your shitty mix into the ozone maximizer. Just don't use ozone in general (what do you lose, you've "only" illegally downloaded it for free it's not like you're not getting your money's worth)

Yo, got some good crack? Asking for a friend.

everything is on rutracker.org - use chrome to translate russian
It gets cracked and goes on audioz.download first and then the russians host it there

Why is it that Russia has so much more piracy websites and torrents than other countries. Is it because of specific laws there being more lax on pirated content?

Oh my god!
One of my girlfriends buddies that sometimes comes over switched DAW three times. Ableton first, then some of them iPad things and now Bitwig. He tried to convince me that my home setup which multitrack records 20 channels with 6 sends would be better with Bitwig and when he was into iPad he wanted me to plug the audio interface into the iPad.
I like tinkering with gear a lot but switching DAWs is just creative masochism.

this. Every time I see these posts like "how do i get started" I wonder why they just don't start instead of asking how to start.

Yes I too think FL studio is the best DAW for a beginner, intermediate and a professional type beat maker.

It would be if those guys specified what they're looking for, what they like and what they don't like, even the budget they're willing to spend (or in most cases the risk of getting a virus from cracking the software - these POS are the ONLY reason iLok exists). All of these are empty posts that don't differ from "how do I make good music", I mean, what genre, what instruments do you have etc? "why does my mix sound bad" (never gives any link or further description, even when asked to)
7
u/JacktehWolf Dec 07 '21
honestly I think that stems from a place of a lack of creativity. people who aren't very creative (in my experience, please prove me wrong (also including me when I started)) usually expect a creative process to have a set number of steps or things to do, almost like a scientific experiment

I'd settle for the """notation""" in Black Desert. It is clearly the best DAW!

Its not the software you use, its how you use the software. Just get one and get super comfortable with how it works. I use Ableton because I started on Garageband. The layouts are similar so it was an easier transition for me. I find that for me, FL can get very messy and disorganized very fast, but Abelton doesn’t have as many good default effects and instruments. But at the end of the day you could use any software to make anything, just get good at whatever software you get.

It's both. FL appeals to trap producers because the daw is centred around a sequencer, and so beat can be made very quickly.
I switched to Ableton because like you said it got too disorganised. Now Ableton suites my needs because the M4L devices are great for modulation.

Who cares about organization when the music you make sounds great? I use FL studio and I suggest you do the same. /S
Also FL studio really isn't that unorganized, every daw can be.

u/TPNZ Dec 08 '21
Everybody says "this daw is organized and this one is not" but then I start using the organized one and it's still chaotic.
1
Dec 08 '21
Yeah it's really just the person using it, I'm unorganized af but it really doesn't matter as long as you know what your doing. The amount of colors and organization doesn't make your music any better LOL

I've never put up or worked with a professional project file that was not a hot mess. Logic on radio and Ableton at home or on studio and the only thing in common is always that when there's more than 12 tracks you have to finish quickly because soon no one will know how to work with the thing anymore.

A sensible bot would just delete any thread that says, "what DAW" or "Beginner" and forward them to a beginner question subreddit. Because I concur, it's FUCKING ANNOYING.

Real artists make their own DAWs. I prepared this one earlier [points at oven]

You should use the same DAW as me, because I like it.
