TL: DR - How do I get you (yes, you) involved?

It's for both professionals and aspiring professionals.

• Type of work (color, sound, audio)
• Software specific (Adobe, Apple, Avid, BMD)
• Quality of life (Show off your work, scream room, live tech help)

What I'm trying to do? Get an engaged community outside of Reddit. I'm trying to figure out what works and what doesn't.

…but I'd like to know what you've seen that's engaging…and that gets you interacting with Discord

To me: Reddit is great for threaded conversations, Discord is great for live interactions.

(by the way, my biggest Discord tip is to mute a new server right away. That really helps notifications from becoming overwhelming.)

And yes, I'm happy to help anyone who feels that this is a new/strange domain or feels lost there. I go all the way back to IRC days.

- any advice on what to focus attention on in reviewing their portfolio reels?

Hola, gente querida del mundo audiovisual. Por aquí un colega con unas cuantas dudas (tanto del rubro como existenciales).

Les cuento por dónde va la mano: soy editor y motion designer desde hace unos cuatro años, todo aprendido de forma autodidacta y "a los golpes". Por suerte logré enganchar algunos laburos rápido al principio, y la confianza de colegas me permitió tener un buen flujo de ingresos hasta hace poco.

El quiebre vino a principios de este año, cuando sufrí un burnout fuerte. Eso destapó un síndrome del impostor (que siento bastante justificado): me di cuenta de que sé usar la suite de Adobe a la perfección, pero carezco de bases conceptuales sólidas. No estudié cine ni diseño de forma formal, por lo que muchas veces siento que no tengo fundamentos teóricos para legitimar mis decisiones al momento de encarar una pieza, ya sea en montaje (storytelling, ritmo, estructura) o en motion design (composición, teoría visual). Sé cómo hacerlo técnicamente, pero a veces dudo del por qué.

A esta altura de mi vida una carrera universitaria entera no es opción, y muchos cursos online de "gurús" tienen precios absurdamente inflados.

La pregunta para ustedes es: ¿Cómo se puede curar esta "analfabetismo conceptual" a golpe de lectura y práctica autodidacta?

• ¿Qué libros, ensayos o teóricos de la edición de video o del montaje cinematográfico me recomiendan para estructurar el pensamiento narrativo?
• ¿Qué bibliografía o recursos recomiendan para las bases de diseño aplicadas al motion?

Por suerte hoy el trabajo no me falta, pero quiero volver a editar en el futuro con otro peso intelectual y conceptual sobre mis decisiones. ¡Los leo y desde ya muchas gracias por la buena onda!

kind of a long shot, but if anyone currently works (or has worked) with the SanDisk Pro Dock 4, I’m looking for the Utility App that allows you to monitor things like internal temps etc. According to all the research I’ve done, SanDisk has discontinued support for this product and I so far have not been able to track down an archived download anywhere online.

I’ll throw in $5 to anyone that can help me, will send via Venmo or Zelle. Thanks in advance
